From the theory of evolution all living things evolve through changes in their DNA.
DNA from a male cell and the female ovum combine to create a zygote. The first cell of the chicken which divides thousands of times to create the animal. In this case the chicken.

So chickens came from other animals, the small changes in the DNA from mixing of the male and female DNA or could be caused by mutations in the DNA. So 2 non-chickens mated and produced a chicken. So in this case the egg came first as the 2 non chickens must have been hatched from eggs and they went on to create the first true chicken.
Biology came in handy for something : )
