And one of these streams has just literally blown me away.
It's only a 2m 35s clip, but it feels like 20 seconds, it's really that good. If you've got broadband/cable I really do urge you to have looksee.
http://www.xbox.com and click on Games, then Halo E3 Video (High Bandwidth), and enjoy.
The thing I noticed at first was the foggy background, and I thought Ah! They've gotten around popup in the backgrounds using the same fogging techniques as used on the 128-bit Dreamcast, but then later on you see the same area without the fog, and your jaw drops, because even a PC would struggle with this kind of graphical presentation. The arenas are HUGE.
Then there's the video content, Halo is basically a FPS futuristic warfare/combat shoot 'em up, but it just OOZES gameplay, you'll be twitching your trigger fingers at this one, it's really that good. You too will want to be jumping onto the back of that jeep and manning the rotating machinegun, taking out the aliens trying to bushwhack you from behind. And you'll be cheering this guy on as he shows you how to take out the nasties whilst running with his comrades through the woodland sections, fragging left right and centre with whatever that hi-powered assault rifle he's using is called.
Then there's the background music, perfect, gets the blood boiling with anticipation and really gets you into the action.
So that's decided it for me then, I was kinda wondering what my first X-Box title was going to be if I bought one, and now I know for sure. The PS2 and the Gamecube aren't going to get another lookin now, my course is set, and I'll be sailing that course with Halo come early next year when the X-Box comes out in the UK.
YIPPEE!!!!
*Ant then realises he doesn't have enough money to buy a chocolate bar, let alone a console*
The graphics looked all blurred.
Muddy, almost.

The levels in
> Banjo Tooie were huge...
Not levels, ARENAS! Imagine standing in the middle of a room which is a mile on all sides, and then fill that room with trees, buildings and other objects in 3D, then zoom out and spin it around without losing one pixel in detail, no popup, no fogging the background to blank it out, that's what I mean by huge.
Here's what else you can do in Halo (from the webpage)
"Huge weapon variety: Vanquish your enemies with a vast array of Human or Covenant weaponry ranging from the stealthy (semi-automatic pistols, alien plasma swords) to the fierce (rocket launchers and flame throwers).
Vehicle & foot-based action: Tackle missions anyway you choose--be it storming an enemy base or taking the wheel or gunnery position of a variety of powerful vehicles. Vehicles range from stolen Covenant flyers & hovercraft to Human buggies, tanks and more.
Indoor & outdoor combat: Fight seamlessly in Halo's ultra-realistic indoor and outdoor environments as you hunt the Covenant in dozens of single player missions and multiplayer battles.
Intense multiplayer shoot-outs: Form a team, choose a role, and fight cooperatively with your friends, battle it out Deathmatch style via intense split screen combat or fight co-op with a friend through the single player missions.
Incredible mission variety: Fight the Covenant in dozens of missions as you uncover the dark secrets of Halo. Among your many objectives - attack enemy outposts, raid underground labs for advanced technology, rescue fallen comrades, steal alien vehicles and weaponry and snipe enemy forces.
Reality-bending special effects: Halo features the most advanced graphic system on the most advanced gaming platform in the world. Gunfire rips off the screen, explosions light up a living room, and environments blur the line between your couch and fantasy.
Rich sci-fi experience: Halo transports gamers into a science fiction universe fresh out of a Hollywood movie. With a detailed twisting story-line, complex characters and cunning enemies Halo will fulfill every sci-fi enthusiasts dream."

Pah... we did all that in Conker... plus we had a tank and even better we got to kill the Germans!

Watch the boon doesn't swing back and smack you in the head as you gawp and the fantastic graphics and gameplay of Mario and other amazing Nintendo Gamecube titles...!
Sorry, FM, but the X-Box is just breaking ground that has already been broken... kind of like a man with a sledge hammer working behind an army with a pneumatic drill... see what I mean?!
Nintendo Rule! Oh yes....
Game
Yep, I'll interupt my heavy schedule of GAMECUBE downloads to give it a chance.
