Devil May Cry looks great... onimusha'ish...
But does anyone out there have any idea whether it'll be a long game, or disasterously short like Onimusha was.

I reckon Onimusha (fantastic game) is so short that it is only worth renting... I got through it in 2 nights... after that what's left ? Do it all again in a Panda suit ? Why bother ?

It is highly amusing, especially if you actually play the game with it!

Try getting something like Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance when that comes out. You'll die of old age before you finish it, if it's anything like the PC versions.

Longevity is an interesting point. ZOE was a good game, marred by short life span, and repetitive gameplay. OK, it was a fairly early title, and maybe Konami were balancing from keeping it in development for goodness knows how long, against the lifespan. But for 35-40 quid, I certainly want a bit more out of PS2 games in the future. Fortunately there *are* titles with plenty of lifespan. So far I've clocked up around 35 hours on Fur Fighters, and have got around 2/3 of the babies. I have just over 1/2 of the gold pyramids, so there is a further challenge there, if I can be asped. GT3 also potentially has a great lifespan. Though it does depend on how far you want to go, before you start thinking 'Am I carrying on playing just to get another car, or am I actually still playing because I'm enjoying it?'. Of course getting new cars is an incentive in itself, but I'm just happy to keep on playing it while the gameplay itself has me hooked. Hmmm... this has given me an idea for a topic......

i think most games that go on for over 25 hours just get boring anyway no matter how good they are. the only exceptions i have played have been Zelda:OOT and Pokemon on the gameboy. Believe it or not i spent about 150 hours on it.

Keeping games short and sweet is the best way to keep them in your memory. thats from the developers point of view. they want to flog the sequel as well u see.

I don't *object* to a game being short as long as it's thoroughly enjoyable - which Onimusha and MGS were.

Neither of them left me feeling let down, but the thing is - like anything in life - if you really enjoy it, it never lasts long enough!

i'm starting to hate the way everyone says games are too short, are you telling me about 13 hours for MGS is short, the only reason people said it was short is because they got hooked and were gagging for more. Games get longer all the time but if these adventure games were longer it would probably lose it's spark and become as bland and boring as some of the tomb raider games. *yawn*

I completed shadow of memories in about 6 hours and the people who've played it said it was far too short but it's a good lenth but it's so fantastic that i didn't want it to end, lucky for me there's another 5 endings to see.

Coming back to the topic i wouldn't be surprised if devil may cry is about 6-7 hours, looks fair sweet though!!

Don't get me wrong. I agree that this is an excellent game, just far too short.

But what about my original question... will Devil May Cry Suffer the same fate ?

And what about MGS2 ? How much time will Snake spend off the boat ? I know we've all seen the footage where he's on a bridge fighting a helicopter, but is that it ?

It was a bit short, but I enjoyed it immensely. There are more extras than the panda suit, though!

Did you find everything and get Kaede's cat suit??

Or find all the flourite and get the Oni Spirits game??

Or find the best sword in the game?? No?? Better complete that dark realm then.
