Hey,
Just want to enquire about the Network Adapter and ask a few questions as i am thinking of linking my PS2 to the internet using my Broadband connection. I was wondering how exactly do you do it, and how it all connects together.
I have an External USB modem, would i have to plug in the cable that runs from my phone socket into my modem, into my Ps2 and link it to the phone line or will i have to link the cable back up to the modem and back into the phone line?
Do you have to pay an extra subscription fee for an ISP or can you use your ISP which supplys you with broadband?
Do you have to pay for subscriptions to games?
Should i get a headset, and does this mean i can speak to people over the internet in any game i am in?
Thanks
Quazi

It's a USB out plug, not a USB in. A USB keyboard wouldn't attach to it. And the PS/2 end wouldn't connect to a PC.

They convert a USB keyboard to a PS/2 keyboard, not the other way around. But you never know?

I have a USB to PS/2 adapter, but it doesn't work when I plug it into a PS/2 keyboard and then into the PS2.

(I can see how that sentence might be confusing).

True. Its a logitech keyboard with all the office buttons at the top. I had it with my Maxx PC but kept my old Microsoft Office keyboard instead... Will try it anyways, if not... Buy a cheap one! Surely worth a fiver to speed typing up a little on a PS2, I know how hard it is to type with a control pad, bl**dy hard! Takes forever!

If you need a software/driver for your USB keyboard then it might be tricky to get it working with a PS2. Hence 'the cheaper the better', you can get really basic USB keyboards for about a fiver these days, no drivers required.

By 'typing' I mean that most online games have a 'soft' keyboard, Central Station included where you press R1 and get a keyboard template onscreen that you have to select letters from individually with a cursor, which takes ages. Much quicker just to be able to type in usernames, passwords and in some cases registration details (e.g. EverQuest and Central Station) using a proper keyboard. You'd also find that without a keyboard you'd never get a word in edgeways in the SOCOM lobbies, the next game would have started before you'd tapped out your message.

Har de har har...

Yes I know that. What about the software/driver etc. would it work without it?
Don't worry anyways, once the netowrk adapter turns up I'll attach my spare keyboard and see what happens!
Thanks anyways FantasyMeister :)

Why's this? I have a spare USB keyboard, this should do the trick but what can it be used for?
