I’ve thought long and hard about this last night/this morning, and for the foreseeable future I won’t be getting an Xbox. The reason? Not entirely sure, but the most significant one I can come up with is that the games I could get (and want) on the Xbox can be bought on the PC or PS2, bar two or three. I then convinced myself further when I thought of the Xbox to PC controller converter that can be bought to simulate Xbox games on PCs. So what if it will take a while to configure? It’ll be worth it.

The final blow is that the console will be yet another considerable burden when packing up and moving – and as a student who already finds himself with too much stuff (the car was really under strain when moving), I guess I’ll leave it for now.

It does mean I’ll be missing some truly excellent games, such as Shenmue 2, JSR, the upcoming Fable and of course, Halo 2; not to mention getting a chance to sing to folk songs on French servers on Live!, or play RS with you lot, which most here seem to enjoy.

Oh well, at least the Xbox2 is backwards compatible, so eventually I’ll be able to play those games – but until then, I’m sticking with my three block setup.

You'll give in. Come April when the only posts in the whole of the Xbox forums are ones that to WOW! before people disappear again to play Halo 2, Half Life 2 and Doom 3, that is when you'll realise.

Exactly the same for me, thought about getting one over Xmas just cannot get another console, PS2/Cube/GBA SP is more than enough, not to mention laptop bought last summer.

Still Doom 3, Half Life 2 may make me change my mind in a few months

Well, I dont know.
But XboX has the best graphics, sound and gameplay; and games.
But, yes it does weigh around 5kg. And it is big, kind of...
If you want to buy something portable, then you should go for gamecube. Which is about big as a excervise book.

5kg? That's a definite no-no then, I thought it was more like 3kg. I've already got a 5kg laptop, hopefully that can play Doom 3 and HL2.

You're pretty much right, Icarus. There's little that warrants the purchase of an Xbox, should you be able to play and enjoy PC games. Half Life 2, Doom 3 and eventually Halo 2 will be on PC and it is just the likes of Project Gotham Racing 2 you will be missing out on.

Probably made the best choice.

Well, it was a estemate of 5KG. It might be 3KG, as I havent weighed it. But when I pick it up, it feels like 5KG. Maybe its because its massive.

Maverick, no one knows which games on xbox will go to pc. I know half life 2 will, but I dought things like Halo 2 to go to any over console. And 1 majour thing about playing games on pc is; You have to read the gamese technical detail to see if it works on your pc, but on xbox, if you buy any xbox game within europe (PAL); Then you are sure that it will work on your console. XboX has better graphics, but got to admit, Pc has most of the best game Currently out.
