Argh I was part way through writing a reply then noticed you'd said the graphics card was a slot in one, are you sure about that? I mean I'm sure SIS 's are onboard, and it'd all make sense, this is what I was going to say:

Ah that's the problem, the graphics card is built into the motherboard and uses system memory for it's own use, thus lowering the amount of RAM avaliable to your total RAM minus the graphics card's memory, so 192mb. The reason the games won't play is probably due to the fact that the card's not really very good.

You can try something, if you can get into the BIOS settings (usually by pressing delete as soon as you start up the computer) if you hunt around there *should* be an option to change the amount of memory the graphics card is using (this will only apply if it is onboard, but I'm about 90% sure it will be), if you lower this to 16 or 32mb, you should see an increase under your system properties in the control panel.

How much did you pay for the computer?

Also, is the slot where your graphics card fits in a different colour to the other slots?

The reason why i am saying this because my pc came with a games bundle but will not allow me to play most of my games which are around 32MB Requird, would this be because of the RAM i have got, although my graphics card is a SIS 650 64mb, iam also having trouble playing DVD's when i try to play a DVD a pink line appears through the middle of the screen. Thank You.. Charlie

Well that should report the actual amount you've got stuck in the motherboard. Do you have 1 256mb stick in there or are there multiple sticks?

And have you got an onboard graphics card?

Where are you looking in (presumably) Windows to see how much RAM you've got?

Perhaps the OS you're using is eating it up, like XP takes wads of RAM up to use.

Windows uses so much RAM to run things and you can also have memory leakage. I have 1024mb RAM but after leakage and Windows consumption its around 870mb.
