So, for the veterans out there, post your times!
When you've boosted once (after your Max speed has topped), that'll keep you in good stead for a while. Whilst this is happening though, you've got to keep as straight a line on the track as possible, it's no use swerving left+right turning corners, etc, because your speed will go down. For example: If you have a bend to the left then right, coming up, go as straight as possible, and try and keep skimmed on the edge of the corner (where you're nearly falling off), and you can build plenty of momentum like that; but don't go too far, because you'll fall.
Near the end of the race, you should have about 3 boosts worth of energy left, and it's best to use them here, that's how I beat him.
But the Story after that is a lot harder, and I haven't done it yet.
For the race with Goroh I boosted twice at the start and then used the rest of the boosts near the end. Just boost past the last couple of boulders and then boost again and you should win as long as you don't slow down because of the boulders.
It's the race with Goroh that is impossible...
