My beloved xbox passed away last night, well the cd-rom did any way.
Wont recgonize any games or films atall, just says no disk.
It's off to my mates tonight to try and be rapaired, but he said i was either looking at £70 for a new cd-rom, or i may have to buy a new one.
When i spent like £150 on the xbox i expected it to last alot longer then 14 months.
Any of you had any problems with the xbox?
(This is the first problem i have ever had with it)

I'm curious. If you only play legal games on your machines, why get the xbox chipped to start with and void the warranty? I don't know about the "flip lid" ps2 and so cannot comment.
Is there any other reason for chipping an xbox apart from bypassing copy protection?

I'm curious. If you only play legal games on your machines, why get the xbox chipped to start with and void the warranty? I don't know about the "flip lid" ps2 and so cannot comment.

Erm we're all having a go at Robin for having pirare games, no one mentioned chipped stuff except to say it is illegal technically. The flip lid PS2 thing is pretty smart because it's not clearly illegal at all, except that it could be argued it bypasses copy protection which is not allowed by the terms and conditions of use.

yep, I work in Recruitment so know all about not being "ist", the only "ist" you can still get away with is ageist by the way.

On the Live side of things, there are lots of rumours that Live Version 3 will detect mod chips even if they are switched off - true or false we'll have to wait and see .....

You can if you get a chip with a power switch, you turn the chip off when you go online.

I'd laugh if someone reported you to ELSPA and they aquired a warrant to see your registered details and previous purchases.

Any way im not bragging in any way atall, some one mentioned the coppied games because i had my Xbox chipped and thats how it all started.
