How do, long time no see, to most of you anyway.

Straight to the point, think im having some problems with my Dualshock 2 pads, or, the ports on the PS2. The main problem comes with the analog sticks, they seem to want to work when im not even touching them, so while playing Pro Evo and Pele is zooming up the touch line, he desides to spin around and walk off the pitch to walk into the Ad boards, mighty annoying.

Also seems that if the wire happens to be swinging or slightly moving around the port it wants to do something daft too. The problem seems to be just around the analog sticks. Works fine other than that usually.

Think it might be a case of the sticks being slightly off set a little, and that sometimes effects it.

Usually if i blow some air into the ports though to get rid of the dust it does the trick, but then starts off again for more Pele being a fool moments.

My PS2 is out of warranty too, and i dont want to have to buy a new set of pads or pay for repair, im a poor little student....

Anyone else have these problems?

Though on Pro Evo I think movement is automatic when the player's already in motion eg. Pele could be running when you let go; by approaching the opponent the game may automatically do a spin. That's what it felt like in PES2 anyway, haven't got 3.

No it's not the same. I think it has its default values hardcoded for the neutral position on the controller.

Only problem I've had with a Dual Shock, official Sony one as well is that it started doing jumps on SSX3 constantly. I put this down to the fact that at some point I'd thrown it across the room in disgust quite a while ago and it had just given up the ghost.

I now have a lovely new cool blue Dual Shock as a x-mas present to myself :)

You see, to me, that topic title was hilarious.
If you're having pad problems, you should talk to your mummy. Get some of those ones with the wings, they'll sort you out.

Ahem.

Anywho:- if the PS2 pads are set-up the same as GC's, I've a solution. On the GC, it takes whereever the sticks are positioned at start-up to be the center position (same with the analogue triggers).

If it's the same with the PS2, you should be able to just puch the stick slightly in one direction when you turn it on to counter-act the movement.

Perhaps.
And make sure the syick itself hasn't just popped out the socket.

I had similar problems with my PS2 pad. I was having a game of GT3 and my car kept drifting off into the gravel, and the car would still move even though I wasn't even touching the conroller. The control pad was never quite right after that.

But if it's an official dual shock you have, and you still have a receipt then you shouldn't have any problem getting it replaced for free. When I took my controller back to the store, they said because it was a Sony product it had a life-time guarante(sp?), so luckily enough they just replaced the pad no problem.
