The left thumbstick on my joypad has gone dicky. It won't turn right full lock - for example on GTA or PGR2 the wheels only turn half way to the right, and on R63 it'll only walk right, not run. Very irritating, it seems to be getting worse - on some games of PGR2 I've tried to turn, but carried on going straight, leading to much profanity.

I haven't mistreated it at all, and have only had it just under a year. Is it Knucking Fackered, or do you know if it can be fixed?

I found a tutorial for cleaning out all the buttons, but it doesn't mention anything about cleaning the sticks. I'm tempted to just have a go at giving it a good scrub anyway, as it's pretty much useless to me, but am I wasting my time?

As it is I'm reduced to using a cheapo one.

Buy a new control pad. :P

If anyone has problems with their triggers, undoing the screws on the pad and then putting them back in can shift the triggers slightly.

I think once the analogue goes it's time to get a new pad though.

That incidentally was a prime example why you should proof read messages before you send them. I thought too far ahead and missed out a key sentence.

Yeah. He laughed as well actually before we decided it would be a good idea to beat it quickly in case we had to pay for repairs to the concrete.

How do you people manage to wreck hardware so easily? The Xbox and its peripherals in my experience have been the most sturdily built ever. Hell, Algy got back from Rosyth today and he brought his Xbox back with him. And the floor of Central Station is concrete. But it does still work.

Anyway, I imagine it is similar to an N64 stick. Which is held in place with springs. If one of them slips or goes a bit wonky then it plays up.

Anyway, what have you got to lose? It is only fit for binning if it does not work, so you may as well have a go.

As for that trigger button creepy, sounds like there is perhaps a bit of gunk inside making contact between the circuit board and the metal contact bit. That or the rubber has been battered a bit. Either way it should be fixable.
