But having been to an under 18s club last night, I was surprised to see about 20 Playstation 2 Demo pods around the walls of the club.
Genius.
They've got the right demographic there. Under 18s who will play games with their friends between dancing, and people who will go off and tell their mates about 'the great game i played at the club'.
Their marketing guy is a genius.
But Nintendo could never have made something in the calibre of Perfect Dark, Jet Force Gemini, Conker or Goldeneye like Rare managed.
Rare have that unique touch to their games and their own personal style and sense of humour to their games.
And I don't know how Goulies compares to Luigi (not play Goulies yet), but I gathered them to be completely different based on Goulies review.
As to Kameo, comparing it to Pokémon is poor.
Yeah, it nicks idea's like capturing and evolving monsters, but instead of being ANOTHER menu choosing RPG (something Nintendo haven't managed to properly advance upon since the originals 8 years ago) Rare have taken the idea into new ground, where you control the monsters and use their full worth, rather than just playing a souped up version of "Rock, Paper, Scissors".
Eternal Darkness was good but Silicon Knights don't touch Rare.
Retro are a lot closer, and Metroid Prime was technically up there with the Rare standard, but Rare just have that magic touch...

More like create a poorer version of a Nintendo idea.
Banjo Kazooie wasn't as good as Mario 64, and it doesn't look as though Kameo will be bettering Pokemon either.
Last I heard it's got a 2006 release date.
Grabbed by the Ghoulies was obviously their take on Luigi's Mansion. They've just done what a lot of Rare games do: improve/extend upon a Nintendo idea.

RARE?
They're no more.
Silicon Knights and the other one now. Which is why I'm in no hurry to buy a GC.
I don't go out to play computer games anyway, I can stay in and do that.
