The worse place to be shot on the body (no its not the privates) is the kneecaps. Many people in films or lyrics say 'shot him in the kneecaps' but some don't know what is really meant by this.

When a bullet hits the kneecap the front part completely shatters and causes it all to force backwards, the liquids that are contained within the kneecap are hit with such force that the whole area of the cap implodes and leaves the victim in unimaginable pain, blood is lost but with the lost ability of being able to run to the phone to call the ambulance the victim is left to slowly bleed to death (if s/he doesn't die of pain).....

... so next time you hear the line 'shoot him in the kneecap', you know exactly what is talking about.

Thanks.

Living just outside Belfast I know all about kneecapping. Interestingly the Mafia don't actually do it (as someone mentioned). I read in John Gotti's biography about their first (and pretty much only) attmept at it in the Gambino Family in New York. The family's guys had heard about the IRA using it and decided it would be an ironic way to punnish the Westies, an New York's Irish equivalent of the Mafia and rivals in the smuggling/airport cargo raids (note: that may not be the right name, long time since I read the book).

Anyway, some expert Mafia hitmen go out to knee cap these Irish guys but totally mess it up. In the translation the instructions got messed up and they ended up shooting the Irish guys in the but. Getting shot in the very fleshy rear is nowehre near as bad as the boney knee, so the Irish guys end up turning round and returning fire, hitting both the Mafia hevies. Can't remember how/where they were injured.

The traditional punishment knee capping has morphed into numerous other attacks - most greusome being hammering the victim into a board, with nails through knees and elbows, hands too if their feeling adventrous. Happens so often now that the Royal Hospital in Belfast has the world's leading treatment for knee reconstruction.

It gets a bit too long towards the end but it is a really great film.

The Pelican Brief is absolutely brilliant. I've taped it, and watched the first half an hour of it. I cant wait to watch it all the way through.

I've seen it before, but that was ages ago, I really really love John Grisham's (he wrote it!)

Kuato, that's the lil' alien geezer who is possessed by a humanoid, gets shot, all the bad guys die, Mars gets oxygenated and Mr. S (can be bothered to spell it out) kisses the lass. The end? Oh, the credits roll.

ok, almost everyone dies but Quaid and the dark haired women (dunno what name) are ok. The dictator ends up outside and his eyeballs pop out. They find an alien reactor that can give mars an atmosphere and activate it.

Watch it.
