Death is nothing at all.....

I have only slipped away into the next room.

I am I and you are you.....

Whatever we were to each other that we are still.

Call me by my old familiar name; speak to me in the easy way, which you always used.

Put no difference into your tone; wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.

Play, smile, think of me, and pray for me.

Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.

Let it be spoken without effect, without the ghost of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.

It is the same as it ever was; there is absolutely unbroken continuity.

What is this death but a negligible accident?

Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?

I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.

All is well.

After death - either:

-Nothing
-Reincarnation
-Transmogrification into a ghost
-Promotion to a higher or alternate plane of being
-Heaven, or
-Hell

Of course I do not believe in Hell (nothing but a tool of control and fear exploited by the medieval Church), but below I present a quick tour of the "9 Circles of Hell" as visualised by Italian poet Dante (1265-1321):

-Circle 1: where the unbaptized and virtuous pagans are tortured.
-Circle 2: where the lustful are tortured.
-Circle 3: where the gluttonous are tortured.
-Circle 4: where the hoarders and the spendthrifts are tortured.
-Circle 5: where the wrathful are tortured.
-Circle 6: where the heretics are tortured.
-Circle 7: where the violent are tortured, viz. those violent against their neighbours, those violent against themselves (suicides), and those violent against God and Nature.
-Circle 8: where malicious fraudsters are tortured, viz. panderers and seducers, flatterers, sorcerers, hypocrites, thieves, counsellors of fraud, sowers of discord, and falsifiers.
-Circle 9: where complex fraudsters are tortured, viz. traitors to their kindred, traitors to their country, traitors to their guests, and traitors to their lords.

Phobias and manias connected with death:

Thanatomania - morbid interest in death.
Necromania - abnormal attraction to corpses.
Placomania - abnormal interest in tombstones.

Gerascophobia - the obsessive fear of growing old.
Septophobia - the obsessive fear of decaying matter.
Taphopobia - the obsessive fear of being buried alive.

And the offspring of chance,
Don't worry about 'The Meaning',
Just laugh, feast and dance!"
