Look on any bench test, the Pentium 4 3.0GHZ and upwards processors are performing better than their AMD 64 counterparts.

I will try and find a link and send it to you by email. Toms Hardware is a great place for bench tests and he compared both Intel processors and AMD from the 3.0GHZ up mark (or equivalent in AMD terms) and the Intel processors performed better in all cases.

hmmm thats tough to call, If you are a gamer go for the AMD, as the perform better with gamers, but for desktops people recommend the AMD, I went for the Athlon 64 3200 with 1mb cache as that cache does give you a boost, also depends if you wanna run a 64-bit OS too ;)

The Pentium 4 3.4GHZ peformed between 7-9% better with bench mark titles (Splinter Cell, Max Payne 2, Unreal Tournament 2003 etc) and that was done with exactly the same hardware only the motherboard differed. I will grab the link from Tom's Hardware and post it in here. Similar performance increases were reported in all Pentium and AMD equivalents 3.0GHZ and upwards.

I would expect the 3.4 to be better, but I think the 3ghz P4's arnt as good as the 3200 64's for gaming, each to their own I suppose, but i've always been a lover of AMD, hehe.
