Does anyone know of any online RPG's that are free to download and play?
I want to get into them, but there's no way I'm going to fork out £30 for something like EverQuest, then another £15 a month to play it in case I don't like it.
Any ideas?

I'm thinking of getting into them, but I also want to improve my online UT skills, and this game VenomByte keeps going on about, NetStorm, is quite good.
I played him last night and lost the first game in a bout 2 minutes!

When you have to pay depends on the game. For example, Planetarion is currently free, but are asking for $10 to play the next season (a season is about 4-5 months long). They will also provide a free version still for those that don't want to play.
Legend of Mir was initially only there for a Beta test, but the developers are thinking of letting it run as so many people are using it.
Personally I don't play any of them anymore, to be any good you have to invest a LOT of time in those sorts of games and time is something that is not on my side these days.

Yeah, MIR is a great online RPG, but you need to get a patch from the website if you downloaded the originalgame.... or you could wait a few weeks and download the full version from the FTP.
MPOGD only lists a couple of hundred free ones I think.
FM, how many of them are free? All of them?
Might try that out myself...
