Just that if the online part isn't up to much i'll just stick to online for Socom 1 and then acquire Socom 2 'by other means' for it's single player game.

Beta testers called it the 'noob cannon' because during beta it was WAY overpowered, the most effective weapon in the game by a long shot, so much so we created rooms with "No M60" in the title to stop people using it so we could have more fun.
On the US version, there's still a tendancy for people to use this weapon (whether it's a hangup from their beta or not I don't know, but somehow the word got out that it's a rather good weapon so lots of people use it). In the final PAL version, however, it's definitely been nerfed a little from the totally destructive beast it was in the beta. Now it's still amazingly accurate for a machine gun, but only in 3 shot bursts, after that it's back to being hit and hope if you're spraying and praying with it. Still great on Escort missions if you need to take out 3 VIPs and a SEAL in quick succession though.
The AKS-105 seems to be more favoured though on most levels. More accurate, almost as powerful, but can sustain more accuracy for longer bursts than the M60E3. The only thing the Terrorists really have to respond to it is either the STG or the M14, both of which take a lot of getting used to. The SP-10 is also rather nice, but it's a pistol. If you can hold your aim whilst pressing R1 rapidly, however, it's one of the best short range weapons in SOCOM 2.

That's out of the question, the more you move the less accurate your weapon gets. Those little 'run around in circles' battles are now 50/50 outcomes, unless you get the hang of suddenly standing still and letting your target walk into a hail of bullets that you're aiming just to one side of them.
On the flip side if you're prone you can pull off really long range shots before you've got your cursor anywhere near the target by looking at the direction they're heading and aiming just left or right of it.
And yes, headshots still put your target down in one go, unless you're using a shotgun at close range, in which case you can still miss.
Overall they made it too realistic, took all the fun out of it. It's now a 'serious' shooter. I'd agree with the AKS-105 for SEALs, very accurate albeit very weak weapon. The M60E3 is the same thing if you only fire short bursts with it, it's also VERY handy for mowing down a SEAL escorting 2 or 3 terrorists towards an extraction point.

Eh? Oh God I'm starting to sound Canadian...
