CTW has reported that the NVIDIA-manufactured graphics processor in the Xbox console will suffer a speed decrease due to a need to `ensure manufacturing consistency`.
Originally set to run at 300Mhz, the clock speed of the Xbox GPU was decreased to 250Mhz, and more recently to 233Mhz. The alteration brings Xbox’s GPU speed much closer to GameCube’s 202Mhz graphics processing speed, and harms Microsoft’s claims that their console is three times more powerful than the nearest competition.

This change also indicates that Microsoft was somewhat premature in announcing that Xbox hardware had been finalised, and fuels the fire of speculation concerning the console`s apparently problem with maintaining consistent graphics frame-rates.

Oh damn.

I kinda balance that against the fact that Take 2 have just announced that Max Payne is going to be developed for the X-Box.

You gotta learn to take the rough with the smooth really.

Not quite.

"The drop in the clock speed for the Xbox graphics processor will have no appreciable effect on the Xbox graphics performance, particularly when coupled with the console's recently-implemented 733MHz CPU.

According to Microsoft, the console is capable of raw polygon output of 125 million polygons per second."

More bad news for XBox:

Halo is not an XBox exclusive. There will be a PC version.

The PC version will have internet play, the XBox won't.

Oh joy to Nintendo. They now have an even better chance of winning this time around. Oh poor Microsoft I must go and see if I can help them with my technician skills.

Would you like me to start listing all the Gamecube titles that have been canned so far as well just to even things out?
