I was trying to play Sega Gt2002 (there is a time for everything, and I hate to admit it, but I do rather like it), and it went 'brrrrrrr..click, brrrr...click, whir, whir, schnurgen..' etc
My drive is beginning to sound distinclty miffed/unwell about something, and no it doesn't have those two little holes everyone asks, but to which I have not a clue what they're on about.
RAR!
Help.

Anyway, I think even though you don't have a warranty now that you should still ring up customer services for advice. They have been known to take pity and repair them anyway. At the very least they could give you some sort of idea of the price.
You can buy replacement drives, one on ebay at the moment, buy it now for £40. Or you could win an auction perhaps for less.
As for replacing them, I think it is as simple as opening it all up and replacing the drives. They are to all intents and purposes PC components and use IDE cables as normal.
I also think that the Samsung one has some kind of benefit for pirates/mods ?
You've disappointed me, Cyclone.
