William H Macy.

In the last couple of months I've seen three films with this guy in, and he's been in dozens more too.

Most recently he was in Jurassic Park 3, and to be honest, without him, the film would have been just a bunch of special effects strung together with the odd corny line. But, in my opinion, he made it so much more. And it's just his appearance that does it! In JP3 he has a big bushy 'tache, and a side parting. his general demeanour, and delivery of lines is superb.

In Fargo, he played a guy that arranges for his wife to get kidnapped in order to get a bit of money from his Father-In-Law. Again, it's the way he delivers the lines, his actions, etc, that helped to make this film absolutely brilliant.

But where he makes me laugh most is in Boogie Nights. He has a mullet. What's not funny about a mullet? The first part of the film, the good times part, features him catching his wife sleeping with other blokes on three seperate occasions. The look on his face the first time, or his humiliation the second are both superb moments, but what he does after the third time, well I won't spoil it for you, but it's one of the most memorable moments of the movie.

So what else has he been in?

Anyone think of any more memorable Macy moments?

Jason Lee is a funny, funny guy. Get the Mallrats and Chasing Amy special eds. and listen to the commentary, it's him, Kevin Smith, a surprisingly funny Ben Affleck and Jason Mewes, all in a tiny room eating snacks. Cool.

Lee is the man, "Would you like a chocolate covered pretzel?"

Hoffman..that man should be in every movie made.

And my personal "It's that bloke!" is Danny Trejo.

The mexican guy with the gnarly face from Heat, Dusk Till Dawn, American Me etc and all the tattoos.

Those are real by the way, this dude was in San Quentin for drugs and armed robbery.

A real life tough guy that you would NOT argue with.

Philip Seymour Hoffman (most consistantly brillant actor working in motion pictures today) and Jason Lee (love the inflections his voice makes when he's acting angry).

On the 'who else is great, and doesn't usually have big parts', how about John Tuturro, or even Steve Buscemi?

I've nothing more to add really, but just add my comments that he is easily one of the best actors around today. I guess he's got the wrong kind of face for 'big' lead roles, but I'll be quite happy if he carries on what he's doing. Top guy.

He's in Pleasentville, Magnolia, Psycho remake, State and Main and Happy Texas as well, off the top of my head (if I remember correctly he got into feature acting late in life). Particulalry like Mystery Men - unexpectidely good sillyness from all concerned :)

He's interciewed in this months Empire if your interested.

Best place for all this sort of stuff is:
