I could have been surfing FOG for the past evening, but after my visit to a computer shop to pick up my new modem, I've been unable to use the PC. Why?

Well, as always when I go to get something electrical, I always come back with more than I bargained with. This time it was an ATI all-in wonder 128 AGP card (try saying that when you're drunk!)

Could I get the blasted thing to work? Nope, it decided to have a little fun and hang windows instead. Well, it's probably the other (on board) graphics card that's doing it, but I've lost the manual and can't find a jumper to turn it off. So I spent last night trawling through endless system.ini files and setups in a bid to get the card working with my PC. hrmph.

If I'm on the net tonight, it's because I've fixed it or given up and re-installed the drivers on my old card. Otherwise it will be an update tomorrow.

Wish me luck!

PB!

If had an on board graphics card before, had a helluva job to get it sorted, but try this:

Right click my computer and go to properties to get the System thingy up.

Click on the second tab from the left, select Display adaptor. Your onboard graphics should listed, select it and then click remove.

Install your new card.

Most on board graphics don't have manual jumper settings, you may need to go into the BIOS (press delete as your comp boots up) and select something like "Graphics adaptor: AGP" or something.

That should work. Sorry if I've been a bit obvious in the instructions, but I didn't know how much you already knew. I thought it would be best to start from scratch.

Good luck!

Just installed a 40gig hard drive myself... bagger of a thing to do. Especially with Drivecopy.

"Would you like a 40 gig partition?"

Y

Two hours later.

"Your 10 gig partition is finished."

Got some software free off Maxtors website in the end. It's a seagate hard drive, but my old one is a Maxtor.

At the moment I'm trying to make a video as small as possible to upload... I think people might have to get winrar to see it.
