You may well laugh at me, you probably do anyway, but I needed to write a topic about gaming frustration - have you ever played a game that annoyed you so much that you ended up swearing at the screen - wanting so much to punch the lights out of 'that' particular character, but deep down all it really shows is that the game is just so good?

No?

Fair enough! But I have, for the past year, been struggling to beat the evil King from Virtua Tennis (yep, laugh if you want), he's the last person to play in the world circuit mode, and I just can't beat him with Mark Philippoussis, but maybe I don't actually want to beat him yet? Could that be it? Virtua Tennis is probably the best Dreamcast game around, one of the most playable multiplayer and single player games of all time, and I can't wait for the sequel - I have nothing else to complete in it other than beating King in Japan, then I'll be number one in the world, and will have completed the game!!!

I mean, this is just one example; I've been 3-0 up, and then just throw it all away, but why are all the best games just so frustrating at times? I'm not the greatest player of games, but I do like playing them, so I do - Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, another really frustrating game, Sonic Adventure - argh that was annoying, and ChuChu Rocket's final one player game? Could it be that the developers deliberately make them so annoying, just when you've almost had enough, almost completed the game - just to keep you playing? Certainly bode wells for the longevity of a game...

This does show that games are becoming more realistic all the time, in the future we'll be writing posts about arch rival racers in GT4, Project Gotham and alike - games characters are getting more real, having more of a personality, and I've already got a personal vendetta against a couple of Virtua Tennis players!

Anyway, I was quite heated today, I shall beat King, it may take until October, when Virtua Tennis 2 is released, but I just thought I'd let you all know about my frustration, and I'd like to hear about your gaming annoyances too.

Thanks for reading - I've kept it concise, appreciate it!

what does the trem swap games mean to you?
is it
swap games with a mate for a week or so then swap back
or
swap games with a mate then sell the game when you are bored
claiming"swap means for ever?"
for me its the first one
i lent someone my copy of earthworm jim(this is going back a bit) and they lent me desert strike..after a couple of weeks i wanted mine back (i hadnt even completed jim) and i was confronted with "i got bored with it so i sold it!" OH MY GO WHAT AN IDIOT! not only had i lost my best game but i was now landed with desert strike and crappy game in comparison to jim....i found that very frustrating

and when you lend a game to someone and they wipe your go off after you spend nearly a year at it and you are on the last level!!!!

come to think of it i have had a very frustrating past with lending games ...THATS IT I QUIT!!!

Gaming frustration. Ahh Im sure we have all had it at some time in our times playing games. but isn't that the idea of games, aren't they supposed to test you more and more as the game progresses? Surely it gives you a greater sense of achievement which you can boast about to your friends when you beat the final boss/level which you have been struggling with for a while.

I like games where you get worked up and hurl insults and sometimes swear abusively at the telly. Quite a few times on Driver 3 have I been close to getting to the arrow or running out of time and shouting until my face is bright red and I have to stop and leave it till another time.

With the gran turismo games trying to obtain all the licences is a real pain in the glutemus maximus. I struggled for ages trying until my fingers where close to bleeding. For what purpose, because I wanted that feeling of achievement that you get when you do it.

What if games didn't challenge you like this though, what if they were all ohh so easy "walk in the park" games. Would they still be as popular? I think they would be popular but not as popular as before. This extra challenge make the games great. Encourages you to keep going although you have tried so many times.

Some of the most frustrating times are when you play a game like resident evil/dino crisis and you save before facing a big boss only to find that you have very little ammo and no big guns to tackle the boss. That the type of situation which sorts out the experts from ordinary gamers.

They should make more games which get harder as you progress and require you to remember things from early on to help you more towards the end.

You sold it because in the past you needed some money. But now you may buy one as you want to play GT3.

Why didn't you just say so?

Tomb Raider 3

The underwater room.

I screamed myself red in the face at that, vented my frustration on my fat, stupid ginger dog and ate my own face, all the while screaming in rage until my head exploded.

14 more chapters, but not 14 more games.

"Getting a PS2 again" You mean you already had one? Why get rid of it?
