Hey, I know this is a kind of controversial subject, but I think it’s one that should be sorted out. I’m not really up to date with all the PC terms so if I offend anyone, I’m very sorry and nothing was meant by this.
- First of all, Racism as a whole and my opinions.
In my opinion, all people should be treated equally. Whether they be black or white, straight or gay, rich or poor. By equally I mean equally. I don’t believe in schools for black people or schools for white people. I don’t believe white people should be treated better than black people OR black people better than white. I don’t believe a black man should be sacked just because he is black, but I also don’t believe black people should be able to sue for something white people can’t. In some cases I believe racism has gone too far the other way. Why should police officers be afraid of stopping black men? They are not afraid to stop whites, so why blacks? Why is there a difference? I also disagree with black people (by this I don’t just mean black by the way, I also mean Asian half-caste etc etc) who think the world is against them because they are black. How many times have I watched a program about the police? Ten white men get arrested and don’t complain. One black man gets arrested and screams the place down about it being because he is black. Where is the equality in that?
- But what has this got to do with gaming?
A few months ago, PC Gamer ran an article about racism in computer games. It used Soldier of Fortune as an example of the problems. It pointed out that, during the missions, you could not kill any civilians. If you killed more than 2 civilians, it was game over. However, in the missions that take place in Iraq, Iraqi citizens can be killed without any problems. These deaths aren’t even recorded on your “Innocents Killed” list. This shows the thinking that Iraqi citizens are not as valuable as Americans. Let’s make this clear, no where in the game do the innocents become a threat, they generally stand around minding their own business. This is clearly part of the American ‘Dirty Arab’, gung-ho kind of attitude toward these people. I would like to make one point before I finish, no where in the game does it say that it is ok to shoot Iraqi, yet no where does it say not to.
So, what do you think? Is this blatant racism? Is this simply a mistake? Have you noticed racism in any other games? Let’s get this sorted out because it should not have to be tolerated.
Apparantly, I'm half a 'tommy tanker' cos I was born in England, and I apparantly do things to sheep cos my parents are both Welsh and I live in Wales....
That's the general attitude England and Wales have towards each other and it gets on my nerves!
Who cares where your from? I don't!
So why should games like the one mentioned in this topic promote racism?
btw: anyone saw that guy on the news who thinks of Hitler as an idol?
He has been given permission to enter this country after a long ban, just because (this is as close to a direct quote from the news as I can get from memory) 'people believe it is against his human rights' to be disallowed into the UK.
People could say the same thing about murderers though!
Anyway, he is Anti-white according to the news and the black people interviewed about it said that 'He's allowed to voice his opinion'
If a white man or woman has a bad opinion of them though, they are racist!
There's still gonna be a long time before racism ends!
Just wonderin?
> No one that cares about life cares about the Rasism in gams?
if they did there would be replies
NiGHTS!
So i did.
IT HASN'T GOT ANY REPLYS YET!
