While I know some parents may like nintendo, I can't help but notice a huge handicap nintendo has due to it's lack of mature games. Not all games have to be geared toward young adults, but that's where the money is. we're the people out buying the games now. The videogame market has changed and it's not just a bunch of 12 year olds anymore. Saying Nintendo is gonna be #1 again is ignoring the fact that few 18 year old guys are gonna buy a gamecube as their one and only system. They may buy one in addition to an x-box or ps2, but a man can't live off mario remakes alone. Unless ultra realistic racing scares you and just the words 'resident evil' makes you want to cry, just buying a gamecube for all your videogame needs isn't gonna work. Nintendo has let some slightly more mature games slip through it's gates that's a step in the right direction. if control-freak parents don't want a kid to have certain games then they can regulate that on there own, but a system shouldn't be geared toward an audience. That's what the games are for. The system should be a medium for art and entertainment. What world you decide to immerse yourself in is your choice.

Oh, and the EA thing... ok, it was a bad example...

but many smaller devs have put loads into PS2, and many have said that they simply can't afford to pull out now.

Of course PS2 has lost the dominance of PS1 when exclusive games are concerned... but it will still have a huge user base none the less.

"on past experience"... on past experience whenever ninty launches last the console is far less successful (unit sales wise) than the competition.

I don't think you get it. I LOVE NINTY GAMES. However, with every othger launch game they have ever released, they have shown it at E3! Why would they want to not show a game? The whole point of E3 is to try to get more developers on their side, and what better way to do that than to show some killer apps. Let's say ninty had Zelda for launch. And they didn;t show it. And therefore developers didn't join ninty until sooner to release. Meaning less games in trhe months from release, and a PS2 effect whereby lots of great games only come a year or 2 after launch.

Do you really thinbk ninty would do something like this?

I am basing all my comments on fact. Ok, maybe I am wrong about Luigi's Mansion... so what? Name some other ninty release games that have the potential to wow.

Of course 2nd party devs like Rare, as well as 3rd party devs have some great games lined up, and I will be getting a GC... but I can't help but say that Ninty's first party launch is very lack luster at the moment.

There is one final question. If ninty have given Starfox to rare, and Smash brothers and Metroid away, then what are all their coders doing? Either Zelda and mario games will be awesome, or there is something else going on?

Is it possible that Nintendo may be competition for third-party-developers as well.
I mean they are better at making games than hardware.

But it's not the current year. We'll get the 2002 edition this year. But why?

Well, today, I can tell you.

Many years ago lived a small boy named Peter Edison. He worked for EA as a games tester, bug testing games which eventually would be mass marketed.

Peter wasn't the brightest of boys, but he was a hard worker, and always managed to produce his work on time.

At the other end of the scale, lived a man named Ken Francis. He worked as the game leader on many projects... and also happened to have the job that Peter had always wanted.

One day, Peter took up the courage to ask Ken about how he could get started in games design, and how one day he truly wanted to be a project leader.

Ken took pity on the poor soul, and took him under his wing.

The rest I forget. I know it's something to do with Ken sending Peter to buy a calender, but I can't be too sure.

EA support anything that allows them to bring out games with the current year as the sequel number.

What are you on about Nights, EA have put tonnes of money into the PS2 market??? EA support any machine that gets released and are supporting the Xbox and GameCube as well as the PS2.

As for Nintendo not producing any good games well from past experience I can assure you they will produce something special although theyre probably keeping a lid on it until the launch (dont play all your cards at once !). Although admittedly they are working closely with their partners such as Rareware to bring killer titles to the GameCube.

Yeah but don't you think that Luigi's mansion will get a bit boring after a while unless it has some great gameplay.
I mean sucking ghost all the time is samey.
But, only time will tell!

Hmmmmm.... name a AAA title developed by ninty that will come out in the next 2 years. Metroid is not developed by them. Nor is Smash bros. And those Mario games- they weren't even in video form at E3! Nor was Zelda.

Only game I can come up with is luigi's mansion. Great games... well, not if you know what you actually do:

Move with C analogue
Aim hover with main analogue
Suck up all ghosts
wow.

Ninty are just too late- they could make the best console ever, but developers like EA have put MOST of their resources into the PS2 market which is already huge!
