If you haven't heard of the Street Fighter saga, you must've been sitting under a rock for the past decade of video game history. This is the best 2D fighter out right now for GBA.
Gameplay: (10/10)
An overall great battle system. Along to the basic punch-and-kick combinations, you also have things like reversals, combos, counters, and super moves. Super moves are possible when the meter at the bottom of the screen fills up. The Super moves often do a ton of damage, usually over half of the other player's health. With awsome cast of characters like Ken,Ryu Chun-Li, Guile,Blanka, and Dhalsim, the gameplay is really great. The only thing I noticed is that some of the characters are alot stronger than others.
Graphics: (9/10)
The graphics are very similar to super street Street Fighter 2, except in amazing color. The actual sprites of moves being performed are like your average 2D fighter, but good nonetheless. The animations of, say like Ryu throwing a dragonball are very smooth. Another good thing I noticed are the highly detaled backgrounds. They are also very smooth and the sprites are very good. Some graphics and movies have been changed from the original Street Fighter 2,this keep's the game fresh, and with no disappointments there.
Sound: (9/10)
The music isn't new, so expect to hear old funky tunes during the fight. The sound effects are very good similer to the street fighter arcade qualitty, and you just love hearing the fireball hitting your opponent. Also, the music is very high quality, it's still great to hear it even after all these years.
Control: (9/10)
The battle system in terms of punches and kicks is very creative. By tapping the A or B buttons, you get a weak punch/kick, but by pressing it harder, you get a stronger punch/kick. Of course, the L and R triggers do some work, too. They are just variations of the punch/kick. And of course, special moves (for example, a dragonball) are performed by using the D-Pad and one of the 4 control buttons.
Multiplayer Options: (10/10)
Street Fighter isn't Street Fighter without a multiplayer mode to go head to head against your friends. Playing friends can be very fun, and new. Unlike the CPU, your friend may have a different style of fighting, so it's going to be new. Also, your friend may provide you with a challenge, so watch out.
BUY OR RENT
This game can make a pretty good game to rent for the sake of multiplayer modes, and its fair load of secrets, you're better off buying it to experience this AWSOME GAME.
Overall
9/10
top stuff!
The original Phantasy Star Online was a awsome game that had taken many people by storm. The people filled up to the servers for what was bound to be one of the greatest and most time consuming games they have ever played. I am one of these. But after so many hours it got boring.....the people left and PSO lost the glory it once had. But that is all changed now that Phantasy Star Online Version 2 ( known as PSO 2) it is out in Japan and america. Lets get to the review.
STORY - Well, what can you say about this games story hmm not too much im afraid? It is about as same as the original. The planet is about to blow up, see if this new planet is safe. (Somehow I figured it wasn't) Not a strong point of PSO 2.
SCORE : 5 out of 10
GRAPHICS - Amazing. They are even better then the first. Everything looks nice down to the fallen leafs on the surface on ragol. The new weapons they have ( Which, by the way, Version 1 people see as Sabers or Handguns all the time)
nice textures, and your armor FINALLY shows a difference in your character. There is very few hints of slowdown, even when you are going head to head with ultimate Falz. (The final boss) is Just breathtaking.
SCORE : 10 out of 10
GAMEPLAY - Well, it is the same classic gameplay of the first PSO, which, even after 500+ hours, never really got old. You press buttons, and form them into combos. The weak attacks do less damage and have higher accuracy, and successful hits add to the next combo hit's chances of hitting. Very good animations accompany the shots or slashes.
SCORE - 8 out of 10
MUSIC is Again, basically the same as the original with a few new twists. I alway's liked the music, as it never got repetive. There is always new beats that take you by surprise.
SCORE - 8 out of 10
FUN FACTOR - This is one of the most fun game I have ever played. When you get online, and meet up with all your buddies, it is like school all over again. If this game can sink 500+ hours out of me even after I lost a character, it can hook newbies instantly. Also it has new features that PSO did not have, such as Lobby Soccer, which although is forgettable, provides something to do while waiting for buddies. Also it includes Battle Mode, which can be very entertaining when you want to settle the score with that person who keeps taking your stuff or just to play for fun with friends. And last but not least, you can change your characters outfit and hair for 100,000 meseta(pso money).
SCORE : 10 out of 10
RENT/BUY - Well considering that you can only use the registration codes once for each game and the offline mode stinks, buy. Buy it now. Import it. Steal it ( Well maybe not). You have to have this game if you are a fan of games themselves and you have an online connection.
BUY
OVERALL - This game is a gem. The great people at sonic team have rolled this game up even tighter in Version 2 and have made a must-have. The reason that it does not get a 10 is because after 500 hours it can get kinda repetive. But it is still great.
SCORE : 9 out of 10
great game get it on import or wait for the uk release top stuff sega.
