Bruce Lee – a man who shone like a light through the clouds of adversity, and changed many people’s perceptions and beliefs for ever. He was a god. And he couldn't half fight as well.

(word of warning - don’t say this to any Martial Artists studying Win-Chun! I once brought up the topic to a very hard Win-Chun student at a martial arts tournament and he almost spat down my throat! They don’t think too much of him, something about desecrating their martial art...Whoops!)

Heros..hmm,

Carl Fogarty for his sheer determination and overall 'screw everyone else, this belongs to me' attitude, the man is a King.

And Damon Hill for growing the worst ever mullet in the world! :D

I agree with Hooplah. Heros have to be well known and in this day and age that means they have to be on TV.

POP stars are too poncy, footballs fall over if the wind blows on them (gone are the good old days of vinnie) and astronoughts are not on TV anymore.

My heroes during my younger days were Douglas Bader and Jimmy Hendrix.

I wanted to be a fighter pilot for ages because of Douglas Bader, then became too tall and too short sighted to manage that.

Listening to Jimmy Hendrix (play, not in person) started me of playing the guitar; He was left handed and I'm left handed, which seemed important at the time. I play a righty as well, though not in the mad way that he did (obviously not as well either).

There are no more heroes left in the world, noncy pop stars and fairy cake footballers are all the youth of today have to look up to.

There's always the majesty that is Brian Blessed I suppose, any man that spends his time quaffing enormous amounts of wine and shouting a lot seems like a decent option to me.
