Focus on our free gifts and items which are near the top of our charts, Get Dotted and Freeola, or UKchatforums. Look for an idea which will entice people to click, or a strong selling point of the product in question.

I do mine in flash, then export them as an animated gif.

All I use is ULEAD Gif Animator 2.0 and good old Paintbrush!

Basically, creating a banner is creating an image.
The image must be 468 pixels wide by 60 pixes high.
It doesn't have to be animated, but generally they or more interesting if they are.
Use a graphics package such as Adobe Photoshop to create the images. You can then use a free gif animator program (download from the web) to make them animated.
You can go a lot further into this and use packages such as Fireworks, Dreamweaver or Illustrator.
