But what i want to know is how many games are actually 'compatible' with surround sound? Obviously, any game can be played with the surround sound, but are there any games that actually use it?
Games I would like to see use it are survival horrors like Resident Evil. All of a sudden, you hear a sound behind you. You spin round, see a zombie, and with seconds to spare pull the trigger on your shotgun!
Any comments?
Point is, in both these cases, it's there for those

But is it?
Read my post below this one, I can't be bothered to write it out again.

Yeah, but it does provide Dolby 5.1/DTS output. These things always require an add-on somewhere! My DVD play has 5.1 outputs, but it's no use without an additional 5.1 amp...

Still, I imagine some people will use it. If they've already got one for a home cinema or something.
But the only problem then is that is has to be programmed into the game. If not many people have the decoders, the developers may not think it worthwhile to put the effort in.
So less games have it.
I agree with TheBest_2K1 though, games like Resident Evil woul dbe pretty amazing with surround sound.
I could just have logged in as Darkness_2K, but what the heck!
I was just looking at my PS2 box (which is in my study for some reason) and yes it does have Dolby digital and 'dts digital out'. So, they means the hardware is there, but how many games are there which will actually distinquish sounds coming from different directions?
After all, hardware isn't much use without the software to utilise it!

I thought the

Nah, thats a bit of a scam really, it just means that the PS2 can be connected to a Dolby 5.1 Decoder at a extra cost of course.
I was only messing when I said I had no comment on this.
As pb says, it should be in prime, but Newbies can't create topics in there so......
I thought the PS2 had Dolby Digital 5.1 or something programmed in.
Any comments?
No, not really.
