The 2 policeman beating the crap out of that chap?
What'll be the excuse?
"He had a lighter that looked like a boxing glove"
Nope, 2 bully boys wailing on a guy and nothing will happen about this either.
This is the official line from the police commission and the story from the BBC:
A police officer who was captured on video hitting an apparently defenceless man has been withdrawn from duties which may bring him into contact with the public.
The tape shows Chris Wilson, 26, being kicked in the groin and punched in the face by a uniformed officer outside his home in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
Mr Wilson is then handcuffed by the policeman, who allegedly knees him in the back and pulls him by his hair to a patrol car.
The officer's colleague, who saw the incident, has also been withdrawn from duties.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "Officers have been withdrawn from duties which mean bringing them into contact with the public."
The video was shot by music student Mark Goodwin, 21, who said: "I was in shock for about two hours. My fingers were still shaking.
"I just couldn't believe what I was watching or that I was managing to get it on film.
"I remember hearing the crack of the first punch. I can remember feeling it for the lad, I kind of said 'ouch' for him."
The video does not show events leading up to the alleged attack but a second officer can be seen looking on.
So, we have two shooting inside of a month and police carrying out random acts of violence, caught on video-tape.
What the hell is going on here?
Are we in Malaysia or China?
Police shooting and punching us?
Now, I'm not saying anything else except this:
Rodney King. Police found not guilty, LA burned to the ground.
Interesting to see what happens with this one.
Still, it's
> nothing when you consider what the Italian police get away with...
I heard about that on the news. Didn't the police beat 10 shades of poo out of this guy, breaking 4 ribs and causing internal bleeding? He looked pretty messed up on the news, at first glance i thought some wild animal had taken a chunk out of his left hand side. It was completely covered in a wide bandage with loads of tubes coming out of it. Now that is bad policing!

Apparently the guy has a record and is known to the police. Also, you don't know what - if anything - was said to provoke it.
Of course, none of this justifies the action of the police officer, and I agree it was out of order.
Still, it's nothing when you consider what the Italian police get away with...
My theory (well not really theory) is that they are normal people like you and me. Some love the job some are just in it because they need to make a living. They could have easily have been a baker or civil servant they just picked that job. So there on a bad day so lets beat the lad up, no excuse that is like a lawyer saying naw can't be bothered doing my job proberly today just put him in jail.
In saying this you can't class them all like that, there are some that are good at their job for instance here is a story.
Last month me and mates were at a party and drinking until the early hours of the morning and were thrown out the house by owner (don't like him). So we were screwed, we were planning to kip there that night, so were in a bit of a mess. 4 in the morning and we were out on the streets
NOTE: My group of friends are civilised and not your usual scum that hung around street corners etc. Also I wa in no danger as the area I live in is very emm pleasent.
Well so we walked around a bit... then at about 5 we deceided to just sit at this park until we would be able to go home (none of us had keys to home and were not thinking of waking up parents). So we stayed there not making any noise or causing trouble when all of a sudden a police van draws up...
Oh bollards I say to myself... this good little boy is about to get chucked in the back of the van. First we thought to run... we deceided not to (NOTE: still drunk) and talk to them an explain we were causing no trouble and how we ended up like this... and to be the guy was great.
He said he was sorry after we told him and was understandable but said some batty old bag 100 metres away had phoned at 6 in morning to complain about as even though we doing Jack. So we moved on while apoligzing and he said just don't make a habit of it.
He could have easily have thrown us in the back of the van even though we were doing nothing wrong (you may disagree) so theres my story. :D
any one want to go into space with me where our distsnce from earth causes us to believe we are there superiors and we end up bombing the filth and many years later re-settling?
Not that im saying i should sit judgement above all thats why we die and some of us burn in hell and teh others move on to the playboy/girl mansion
The police did ask for people to move away but people remained watching.
They may have been fierce but, personally, i agree with the degree of force they often use and half the time they dont use enough.
If you dont do anything to get in trouble then you dont have to worry.
I understand that you were innocent by standers but maybe you should have moved away....
I got to say im highly skeptical when the only bit caught on tape is teh kicking the police gave teh bloke.
Lucky teh bloke was filming when he did wasnt it..i mean your allways filming the local neighborhood waiting for a copper to kick teh *ahem* out of someone...
The Police have been put under the public microscope and are now more than ever under constant pressure to perform well and to carry out their jobs to the best of their abilities, but they can never perform well enough. If they are seen as too lenient then the press and the public points this out to them saying they should be more hard on criminals but when riot police are called in they are seen as being too hard and again this is pointed out to them and again they get a right old bo****king. They simple can't win.
No wonder police recruitment numbers are falling, i was thinking about joining the police force but i couldn’t stand people constantly picking faults with me and the people i work with who at the end of the day are just following orders given to them from somebody higher up the chain of command. When Riot Police move in they don't all of a sudden say "right i'm bored, lets kick the crap out of somebody" they, like anybody else in a job, are told what to do and when to do it. This doesn't justify it but i just saying that it's not the individual policemen but the one at the top calling all of the shots.
During the May Day parades this year many policemen died. I saw one Policeman who had broken his leg and was left behind. A group then closed him on him, beat him up and then hanged him. Imagine your a Policemen and during the next May Day parade you are in the riot squad. All of the events that happened last year are dug up and you are place in a dangerous situation where you fear for you life. There are reports that groups of people are going down to London with the intention of starting trouble. When the one or two or a small group of idiots of the PUBLIC (yes, they are to blame as well, it's not just the police) who actually start the riots, as a police man you don't have time to look around you to see which people started it you just try and get everybody back. When your in a fight with a group of people you don't stand there and say "right this guy didn't hit me, this guy didn't hit, but this one did" it is such a frightening experience and you properly wouldn't understand it until your in one. It's hard to pick out the offenders while there is so much going on and the adrenaline is pumping throw your veins.
The Police aren't entirely to blame, only a select few are. Just like the public. They aren't to blame for riots its just a select few. People should really understand the pressure the police are under. It's a very hard job, now more than ever.

Last year I was taking a foreign friend round London for the day as she had never seen the sights etc and it was a perfect opportunity to..er…befriend a 19yr old Colombian girl over here for 4 months only (I’m getting side tracked here aren’t I?)
Anyways:
We did the usual Buckingham Palace etc and she wanted to see Big Ben and Parliament. So we walk down and hit Parliament Square. There are loads of people there protesting against Capitalism and the like, planting flowers, putting sods of earth on the road. It was pleasant, people danced, painted people’s faces and were doing their own thing. We stood there for about 30 minutes watching, the Colombian girl thought this was great. And it was nice, relaxed and calm.
We decided we’d seen enough and walked up towards Trafalgar Square, watching people protest with placards and banging drums etc. We get about half-way down the road and come up to Riot Police, 3 lines deep standing there blocking the way. I ask if we can get through please, and told no, go back.
Ok, fair enough.
There was a large group of people at the blockade, probably about 200 or so. Not just “crusties” but tourists, news reporters, camera crews etc.
About 60 people were sitting on the ground in front of the police, shouting at them but otherwise being calm and non-violent.
So we stood to the side and watched, tourists were taking photographs, news were filming – interesting as I’d never seen riot police this close up or been in any of protest action.
After about 20 minutes, we were ordered to move back. Everyone refused to move, those on the floor stayed seated as they were doing nothing to cause trouble.
From somewhere beyond the police came a trumpet blast and then?
Everyone got rushed by the police.
And I mean everyone. Those sitting down were trampled by police on horses, those standing to the side were jostled and shoved by the advancing riot police.
Not pleasant at all, I was smashed in the back of the head by one cop with his shield, I turn around to ask WTF and got a baton in my chest for punishment.
News crews had their cameras taken and smashed.
And then the police decided to run.
Now, it wasn’t just agitators there, there were tourists, old people, reporters, a mix of the usual people you would find in London on a sunny afternoon.
As we fled down towards Parliament square, the police were lashing out at anyone that couldn’t keep in front of them. To my left, a Chinese woman fell to the floor and was kicked repeatedly by a cop. I stop and push him back, this woman was in her 40’s and crying and I try to help her up. This cop slammed me to the floor and 3 of them promptly started to kick the crap out of me. I was picked up by god knows who and, after about 10 mins we were all herded into Parliament Square.
We were kept there for 3hrs until everyone basically pushed through the cops and ran off.
I’m not a crusty, I’m not an anti-capitalist that feels the need to smash windows. I was there to show someone around, and got a thorough kicking for trying to help a woman up from a beating.
I have no sympathy towards the police since this event, I was minding my own business and got stomped. As did everyone else there. But was any of this in the news? No, we saw morons smashing McDonalds windows and throwing bottles.
From my experience, the UK Police are fascist bullies that use a badge for an excuse to commit random acts of violence.
Myself? I wouldn't touch a drunk woman, simply because if they're that mashed they won't be into it.
But, getting back to my original thoughts:
Police are beating a person in custody. A couple of papers are trying to downplay this already by suggesting the guy deserved it, read some of them
"Unemployed Mr (cant remember his name right now) has previous convictions for burglary"
So what? That doesn't mean you cuff someone and beat the crap out of them.
Having been on the recieving end of this myself, it is ignored and downplayed in the news.
Those protestors arrested in Geneoa have yet to be allowed phone calls, I'll stick my Mayday experience in the following post because it's a long one.
