Some are for it, Some are against, I can't see any harm in downloading old retro games and games that aren't availible for purchase but newer games and now emulated on the pc and that's clearly what everyone is up in arms about.

Yeah it will affect sales but how exactly is downloading space invaders a crime?? even if you don't own the original which i do anyway how is this affecting anyone? I can understand if GT3 was availible for complete download that would be wrong but ancient games that people never had the chance to play is that really so bad?

Playing "roms" on the PC is pretty awful anyway the quality is less than the original and using a keyboard as a joypad isn't the same.
I've been told about a game called sweethome on the nes which is japanese and is obviously not availible here so i checked it out, oh man is their anything worse than a trying to play an rpg in japanese ( ???? ) well the quality is ok but what i want to know is, the playstation 2 is getting a hard drive and modem soon and as i'm sure we all know the posibilities with this are endless and i'm dying to know if all these roms can be actually usefull and be played in full screen running on a PS2.

If they are then haha I'd just dowload all the classic games that people should play even if they didn't buy it when it was topping the charts back in the early 80's, if programs like this can be used on the PS2 then will the possiblilty of playing GBA games for nothing on a PS2 cause problems in the industry er yeah but it's the same with bleemcast I'm sure Sony don't like Dreamcast owners playing an official title on another console but what can they do.

not much unfortunatly but PS2 owners may just be able to play all the old and new different format games for absolutly nothing.

int it great?

Yep! I'd be quite happy to share them with you. Haven't got many games at the moment, but have an Amiga, SNES and MegaDrive emulator.

If you spot me on MSN, just give me a shout.

One teenager in USA was fined $300,000 for using emulators which could play NES, SNES and N64 games.

I don't use emulators because they are just another way of copying games which is illegal.

Some games developers don't mind some of their games being downloaded for play....

Some developers even provide you with software and even hardware emulation!

I saw one site for the ZX Spectrum (official) where you can just give in your address and for free they'll send you a 'Tape Loader' so you can play your ZX Spectrum games for free!

That kind of emulation is perfectly legal. Even for third parties to create hardware to play other games on.

Datel have created a device that allows you to play Game Boy and Game Boy Color games on your Playstation 2's! I'm not sure whether they allow you to play Game Boy Advance games, however the picture quality is ment to be really good, in full screen and easy to set up!

Cooldogs, yes, there are quite a few good ones out there. Are you on MSN? If you spot me on there of an evening, just ask for some and I will be happy to send them your way. I'm sure there are others that would do likewise. Guys?

Now that's a matter of opinion! Many people could produce a long list of top quality Megadrive games.

There are a few Genesis/Megadrive emulators out there - i used to have one but i got rid of it because the Genesis had hardly any good games.

As for emulators not being as good a quality on the PC, a good SNES emulator like Snes9x or certain versions of ZSnes allowed joypad support, as well as graphics equalling the SNES. It's a great way to play all those old SNES games you never had a chance to play, as well as the American imports and the Japanese games with translation patches.
e.g. Mario RPG, Seiken Densetsu 3(Secret of Mana 2)

I still play on my emulated games today - it certainly saves money by having to buy Final Fantasy Chronicles anyway!

Funny you should mention that, since while surfing for GCN info i found a site which was offering short lessons on learning japanese. Since i want to learn Japanese i thought i would give it a go, perhaps you could think about it too.

Sayonara.
