Thats another thing though, all multiformat games I opt to play on my Xbox or PC and sometimes the Cube as for the most part they do look and run better than the PS2 versions.

From the US list I have seen the PS2 looks positivley interesting compared to the bland and repetitive European releases on the way this year.

I think this illustrates my point on being bored with just PAL releases, here are the games i'll be getting from North America in the next couple of months up until June (gamefaqs release dates)

Hitman: Contracts
Onimusha 3: Demon Siege
ESPN Major League Baseball
Future Tactics: The Uprising
La Pucelle: Tactics
Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain
Transformers

Now here's what i'll be getting if all i had was a PAL PS2

Hitman: Contracts
Project Zero 2: Crimson Butterfly

Quite a difference

Yeah, the games that support 60hz definitley run a lot smoother, I especially noted this on Everything or Nothing for the Cube. Progressive Scan makes game look a LOT better as well, well once again the ones that support it. A lot more of the American releases support Progressive Scan.

It's amazing how much i notice them when i go back to playing a PAL game that only offers 50hz. I just can't help but keep noticing those black borders.

Yea, they well and truly screwed Devil May Cry up from that angle, especially when the US and Japanese release were without them.

Yea i much prefer having the japanese voice overs with the English subtitles on my game (another reason i like Disgaea which offers that feature, whether or not it will when it comes out in Europe who knows) as i feel it makes it more realistic. Now i'm learning Japanese more i'm understanding alot more and won't need the subtitles soon enough

And the lack of big ugly black borders at the top and bottom of the screen is always good

Plus they all run in 60hz and usually with additional stuff added in. Just looking at the Japanese Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance with added bonus DVD. The game has both English and Japanese voice acting and the whole thing just looks more appealing to someone like me who enjoys getting stuff like that. I still have a limited edition Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake figure which looks muchly decent. Also got the Devil May Cry ones a while back although they are more freely available.

does sound interesting actually, might have to keep my eye on that one. I'm just wondering where on earth Ice Nine has gone to, i saw pics of that ages ago and it looked like a Splinter Cell, MGS beater.

My thoughts exactly, i base my console buying decision on which one has the most turn based/strategy RPG's and first person shooters, which is the PS2. If i had to make do with the European releases i would be very disappointed. Also the Americans usually get the better box art, better version of the game like you said and everything just looks nicer and smoother and you don't have to wait a year or so for it to come out (if it does actually come out at all *cough Suikoden 3, Xenosaga cough*) in Europe
