I wrote this ages ago and I forgot all about it, so don't complain if it's a bit dated, or i'll kill ya, ;D.Sonic, what is he?? Who is he??
As odd as they may seem these questions are worth pondering.
Ok, let me answer them for you, Sonic is nothing more than a load of pixels shoved together in the shape of a hedgehog, which bounces around the screen splitting up other group of pixels in the shape of robots. But is that all?? Well no, he is something more. Sonic he is a gaming icon, he stands for Sega, and he exists for everything good in this illustrious gaming industry. Unlike most gaming characters, Sonic wasn’t used as part of the of the mid 90’s gaming fashion, no he was a main part of it, he simply existed as an icon for sea, you could say he made them famous.
However all things good must come to an end, and well it did for Sega; their console just didn’t want to sell, sega’s fate was now sealed, the ending of the book was wrote (I don’t know what I mean so don’t worry if you don’t) even sonic couldn’t save his creators from such a terrible ending. This would mean an end for Sega and an end for Sonics well lived career.
But wait all was not lost for Sega, sequels could be written, and lucky for sega they had the ideas to do so. There was only one path left for sega to take, and this path was multi format games designing. Really they needed to take this path, if they wanted to carry on, and now Sonics life was extended.
However multi format games designing is not an easy path to take. You could call it a bumpy road with many people driving on it, and I can tell you they are pretty good drivers too. This didn’t phase sega one bit, because they knew what they were doing. Through out their years of console making, Sega also had a lot of experience of games designing, because they did make games for their own console didn’t they??
However, until now sega had only ever stayed at home base, but with their new career they were about to cross the enemy lines. This did cause great uproar to die hard Sega fans; they couldn’t get brain around the idea of Sonic and any other sega title on the enemies consoles, known as the PS2 and the Game boy Advance (also the GCN and maybe the Xbox, but at the moment they are insignificant). Sega didn’t worry about this though because it was their last option, and they knew that sooner or later their fans would get over it.
Sega are no longer console makers but they are now an important games designer for all companies. Segas new move meant that ther gaming icon Sonic would live on, and he will entertain a wider selection of gamers. This may seem bad to Sega fans but it is good news for Sega and all the other consol companies.
So Sega live on and everyone are happy.
Long live Sega.
