Anyway Originality now a days is a rare thing in games, simply because they have been out for so long the box full of ideas has become empty, or has it?? (dum dum dummmmmmmm)
Well recently we have been seeing some of the greatest games of all time, supposedly made up of new ideas, but is this really true??? Well with some games the answer would be yes, take Conkers Bad Fur Day for example, it's cartridge was packed full of originality, with things from the great Might Poo's symphony to Gregg the Grim reaper (he's an evil little... ahem). CBFD is probably the most original game this year, with all the movie spoofs, this game is undoubtedly original. It won't be long now before some other company uses spoofs in their game.
As I said before a game like this is rare (I mean an original game) but as time progresses we are getting more of them. To name one would be Red Faction, what other game uses Geo-Mod technology?? My point exactly.
Any way back to my point, as time progresses we expect the amount of originality to decrease a lot more, however this would not be true (well to Ninty fans anyway). With the release of the Game Cube drawing closer, information on it's release titles have been released, actually some have been played.
Here are a few of the games that we can expect:
Pikmin- Highly original - wouldn't it be funny to watch those little plants work.
Starfox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet- Original I think but I’m not 100% sure.
Luigi's Mansion- Suck up those ghosts go on - this game is definitely original.
Super Smash Bros.: Melee- Been done before.
There are a lot more but at the moment I can't think of them (to be honest i can't be bothered, so you are welcome to)
At this present time we are lacking in originality, the reason is not really known. On the PS2 we do have one or two original games but that's just a minority. That is at this present time mind, Sony could well be holding back.
The future however looks different (not like poo stained pants which is what the gaming industry has at the moment, actually now I’m talking a load of poo) in the future we can expect a lot more originality, with fresh minds going into the gaming industry, also a lot more space to make games which is also a bonus.
If you think about it originality is like a fashion; one time it's out and another time it's in.
All I have to say now is:
The futures bright,
The futures Originality.
(Damn that doesn't rhyme at all)
Well thanx for reading

An unoriginal topic about originality.
Ironic yes?
Original ideas aren't that hard to come by. I have a several.
Implementing them into a game is much harder.
Many devellopers struggle to realise original ideas making poor games as a result. That's why most devellopers stick with the tried and tested.
Fish-e have you copywrited that name??
