When i got my Xbox i got a free 2 months subscription to Live, i activated the 2 months and then 2 days later i got the years subscription and it added 2 months to my 1 year.
I Activated the 2 months at the beggining of Febuary and i activated the year one 3 days after meaning my whole subscription should run out sometime in May next year and thats what it said.
EDIT : It even told me a few days ago that my 2 months subscription will run out in a month and my Years subscription will start in a month.
EDIT - No you can't, you get the following message:

Heh, my account started in 2003 and ends in 2005 and it's only a standard 12-Month sub! (Because it started on 30th Dec)

If your "Years Subscription" hasn't run out and you've got a "2 Months Trial" you can still just add the Subscription number and it will just add 2 months to your Subscription.
If anyone is kind enough to send me a free trial thing, I'd be extremely grateful.

I think so, it does say in the top corner "A £10 value"
