In many reviews it was suggested that if you got the wrong car at the beginning of GT3, you could be completely stuffed.

I tried out the Volkswagen Beetle, and that was fine. It won me the first Sunday Cup I entered, and from then on, I had a good platform to work from.

What cars did all of you start with?

One last thing. The intro music that was on a PSM2 demo was really good, but they`ve changed it for this version, and in my opinion its less good. This ain`t a problem as I`ll only watch the intro a few times, but still, why change it?

In my opinion, the best car to start out with is the Mazda MX-5. Not the newer models, but the 1989 model, as it's lighter and cheaper. When fully modded with turbo upgrade etc. it'll do a top speed of 155mph and handles pretty well (tip: turn off ASM for decent handling). I forget how much power it makes exactly, but I think it's about 300+bhp fully-loaded with mods.

Anyway, some people have said go for the Beetle. I did actually make a start originally with this car, but it's too heavy and it's front wheel drive, which leaves you with dodgy handling at full power capability. Not recommended.

As for a second car, I'd recommend the RUF (Porsche) 3400S. It's a right cracker! Take one normal Boxster, slap in the engine from the 911 and a revised front end (also from the 911) and you have a great car. It's better handling than the RGT because the engine's not hanging over the back wheels (which would cause rear-end drift) and it weighs less. Fully-modded with turbo goodies it'll make about 630bhp with a top speed in excess of 200mph.

As for the RUF RGT, *don't* fully turbo modify it unless you're insane and have extremely good reflexes. How does 1099bhp sound? It'll spin the wheels even with full traction control on and you need at least level 10 ASM to even have half a hope of controlling the thing round a corner. It also munches tyres (super-hard racing tyres don't last five laps). Still, it's a hoot on the 'R249: Akasaka' track. Just make sure you brake early at the end of that straight doing 250mph... Oh, and you may be wondering how I could afford it after only a few days gameplay - the answer is that I won it in one of the Professional series races (forget which). That and the RUF CTR2 too... :)

I have managed to get a gold in all the tests accept the final one with the skyline. You just need to practice and use the ghost car mode so you know what to beat and can abort the run if you fall behind. Any tips on the final run with the Skyline would be apprteciated. It is doing my head in.

cheers scott

It was possible in GT2 ( I know cos I did it....eventually)

and so far the licenses seem about the same difficulty as GT2, so......

I made some calulations and I'm sure IA-3 (I think) isn't possible to get gold on.

As my second car i plumped for the £50grand Impreza 22b - i've souped it up and now am conquering all!

- and i've done all the licenses apart from the last one (at last). I haven't even dared trying any of the challenges yet...

And as for getting gold on all the challenges on the licenses - if i see proof that someone has done, i will bow down and call them god. Surely its not possible? Surely???

I'm torn between Tommi's Evo VI and the Evo VII GSR. Hmmm, choices...

I dont know blimeyoreilly, for some challenge go for a car that wont tune up to win everything. In previous GT's I had my basic car then went straight to a Nissan Skyline and that made it easy.

I want to get my Beetle tuned up fully and then tune up the little Mini cooper when I win that. After that I will buy a VX220 for the MR races and tune that up then I want to save up for a Suburu 22B STi, this will be a very good car that can be used for Rallying and the 4WD championship.

Maybe if you have the money go for a TVR Tusan in 1 of the 5 amazing flip paints.

I started in an MX5, but I've moved to a Nissan 200SX. I like the challenge of an over-weight rear wheel drive car, definitely needs work.

What to buy next ?

I chose the Beetle. With the money I had left over I bought stage 1 weight Reduction. Won all 3 races in the Sunday cup and sold the car I won and bought Stage 1 NA Tunning and the cheap exhuast and it was pushing out 160Bhp for 1156Kg of Weight. I did the Sunday cup again and bought the Suspension.

The Beetle is a good car which will go to over 300Bhp(I think) by the time it is fully tuned.
