Yes, you can do it that way, but the trials codes are for new accounts only - you cannot add them to an existing account, like you did with your 12-Month one.

I have only had ONE account. Remember when i told all of you that i got an Xbox?
Well, i got a 2 month trial with the Xbox Bundle so i put in the code. Then i wondered whether i could buy the 12 months code kit and just add it onto my 2 months meaning i'd have it for 14 months, so i phoned the Xbox Live customer services and asked them if i could, they said i could all i had to do was enter the code for the 12 month subscription so i did and it now says i have 12 months left because 2 months have gone already.
