I was going to put 101 reasons but haven't been able to think up anymore!

1. Nintendo have been around longer than anyone here. They were founded in 1898 as a playing card company.

2. Nintendo have 15 years of experience with consoles.

3. Sony are relatively new to the console wars. Only a few years old.

4. How many good consoles have Microsoft produced? None!

5. Nintendo have some great manufactures backing them.

6. Sony are unable to be original, they copy Nintendo all the time.

7. So do Microsoft.

8. The Gamecube is much more advanced than The PS2.

9. The GBA. More processor power than a Playstation. Shows how far behind playstaion are.

10. Nintendo have produced 3 amazing consoles ( with one on the way) and 4 awesome handheld held ones.

11. Both the Nintendo 64 and Gamecube have 4 controller ports. This allows great
multiplayer fun. Does the Playstation, Playstation 1 or Playstation 2 have that? No! you have to buy an extra adapter which means more trips out and more money spent.

12. I know that the Gamecube will be sold for $199 in America.. Now that’s somewhere in the region of £150. The Playstation 2 however was released here for a rip off £300!

13. Nintendo are reliable and trustworthy.

14. The have Rare making games for them and if you don’t already know Rare are the best game manufacturer of games.

15. People say “ oh but playstation have sold more than Nintendo”. Well the reason here is that the Playstation is CHEAP! I hired one for a few days and it stopped working! I have never had any trouble with any Nintendo product and don’t know anyone who has.

16. Microsoft make good computers and programs but they have no experience in the console market. They are jumping in at the deep end with no knowledge of what people want or what is popular.

17. When the Gamecube is released it will be easy on you wallet and perform much better than anything else.

18. The Gamecube is good looking, comes in 5 colors and is small and portable. Anyone seen how big the Playstation 2 is! My computer is only a bit smaller but about 20 times more powerful!

19. There are going to be an incredible amount of things to add on to your gamecube. There will be both a modem and broadband adapter, which fits neatly under the Gamecube. Digicards for saving as well as a Panasonic one which would hold 8 megs of saves! An adapter to connect your Cube to a digital camera to transfer pics into games. To top that off there will also be a wireless controller!

20. The GBA will be able to plug into the cube offering yet more original options for game play.

21. Sega will be making games for the cube and GBA. They are quite good at making games and are sure to do well out of that deal.

22. What is this 3rd place add for the Playstation 2? What does it mean? I played on one and was not transported to the realm of the duck man. Instead I got sore thumbs and couldn’t find the buttons.

23. For playstaion is crap info check out Er-No’s post on the Nintendo sucks thread.

24 Has the Playstation 2 been designed for anyone? I say no. It is Big and black. The gamecube however is available in 5 colors to match your room. They are Black, gold, silver, Blue/purple and pink. Something for everyone.

25. Nintendo have always been tops for original console ideas. The 64DD was an inspired idea but unfortunately never got released here! L

26. You can say Pokemon is crap but try telling that to its millions of fans worldwide. Pokemon made Nintendo a huge amount of money because it appealed to younger generations.

27. There are people who say the N64 is for little kids but there are plenty of games designed for us teenagers and adults. Like CBFD, Perfect Dark, Resident Evil, Turok series.

28. The n64 is probably one of the best looking consoles in the world. It looks so cool sitting under your telly. It’s also easily recognizable. The Playstation 2 looks like a cheap VCR at a glance.

29. I used to look in Nintendo mags and se rendered pics. I knew they wouldn’t look like that on the N64 but all that will change with the arrival of the Cube. Its graphics are as good as the rendered drawings you see in mags.

30. Both the N64 and GC have controllers that have been designed for comfort whereas the playstaion ones are still the same and are uncomfortable.

31. With the GC Nintendo improved the controller to add an increased level of gameplay

No one has really played it properly yet, and from what Bonus and Turbonutter tell me, the PS2 is more powerful in some departments! And as the PSX showed, specs don't always matter.

9. The GBA. More processor power than a Playstation. Shows

You what?? The GBA is a handheld console, and yes, Nintendo have done well with the GBA. Brilliantly, in fact. But I thought we were talking about the GameCube here??

I agree with you here. There is a lack of ports, but how many games have come out on PS2 with a 4-player mode?? Not many, that's for certain. Also, buy 2 multi-taps and you can have 8 players!!

12. I know that the Gamecube will be sold for $199 in
> America.. Now that’s somewhere in the region of £150. The

It's not a rip off, as I didn't have to buy extra controllers for the PS2-as PSX ones worked for it, as well as the games. Also, think of how much it cost Sony to make it!?
Also, the Americans always get it cheaper. My bet is around £200 for us, without a DVD Player.

13. Nintendo are reliable and trustworthy.

So are Sony and Microsoft.

A controller can add an increased level of gameplay?? I don't know, but I'm just fine with my Dual Shock 2 thank-you very much.

1. Nintendo have been around longer than anyone here. They were founded in 1898 as a playing card company. So they are getting a bit long in the tooth, and their traditional ways are starting to slow them down in today's lightening fast marketplace

2. Nintendo have 15 years of experience with consoles, yet they still can't bring one out before Sega or Sony.

3. Sony are relatively new to the console wars. Only a few years old, and look what they managed to do in that time, why didn't Nintendo do that?

4. How many good consoles have Microsoft produced? None! But when they do, will they follow in Sony's footsteps and take the other 50% of the gaming market away from Nintendo leaving them with just handheld revenue?

5. Nintendo have some great manufactures backing them, and most of these manufacturers with the notable exception of Rare are also working for other platforms.

6. Sony are unable to be original, they copy Nintendo all the time, except for when they bring out Wipeout, Tomb Raider, TOCA, Metal Gear Solid, all of which had the gaming press drooling and putting a 64-bit console to shame, considering they were released on a 32-bit console.

7. So do Microsoft, except for when they bring out MechWarrior, Sim City, MST etc., etc., etc.

8. The Gamecube is much more advanced than The PS2, but then the N64 was much more advanced than the PSX, yet still lacked comparable graphics for the first two years of its existence.

9. The GBA. More processor power than a Playstation. Shows how far behind playstaion are. But Sony aren't too worried as they haven't got a competing handheld product, and they know that the PS2 is going to hold its own in the console market short-term.

10. Nintendo have produced 3 amazing consoles ( with one on the way) and 4 awesome handheld held ones, but always after Sega, which brings us around to the question of innovation and why Nintendo never brought out their consoles BEFORE Sega rather than just take one of Sega's consoles apart after release and try to emulate it.

11. Both the Nintendo 64 and Gamecube have 4 controller ports. This allows great
multiplayer fun. Does the Playstation, Playstation 1 or Playstation 2 have that? No! you have to buy an extra adapter which means more trips out and more money spent. But then, Sony gamers have games that you only need one or two people about to enjoy, rather than having games that are so bad you need at least 3 mates around to play with in an effort to convince you that you've made the right choice. (Mario Kart being an exception here, granted.)

12. I know that the Gamecube will be sold for $199 in America.. Now that’s somewhere in the region of £150. The Playstation 2 however was released here for a rip off £300!
But then how much does a DVD player cost nowadays? The PS2 provided that funcionality right out of the box.

13. Nintendo are reliable and trustworthy. Yep, just look at how quickly the NES, the SNES, and the N64 lasted, just about the average lifespan of a console there. And of course sticking with carts on the N64 right at the last minute made them loads of friends, just ask Square Soft.

14. The have Rare making games for them and if you don’t already know Rare are the best game manufacturer of games. Unless you count Polyphonic Digital, SCEE, Microsoft, Square Soft, Blizzard, Sega, Ubi Soft, Konami, Namco, Capcom...

15. People say “ oh but playstation have sold more than Nintendo”. Well the reason here is that the Playstation is CHEAP! I hired one for a few days and it stopped working! I have never had any trouble with any Nintendo product and don’t know anyone who has. But Sony have a great warranty for their consoles, just send it back and get a new one if they can't fix it. The average lifespan of any console is 7 years, how old a hired PSX is is anyone's guess.

16. Microsoft make good computers and programs but they have no experience in the console market. They are jumping in at the deep end with no knowledge of what people want or what is popular. 15 years of following the console market closely will help them though, and the fact that the X-Box was designed by gamers for gamers should give them the sort of entrance that Sony did. I can feel Nintendo quaking now.

17. When the Gamecube is released it will be easy on you wallet and perform much better than anything else. As long as you've got £200 to spare and another £45 per game that is. It won't perform as well as a Cray-XMP, but then Ninty's are prone to the odd bit of exageration here and there.

18. The Gamecube is good looking, comes in 5 colors and is small and portable. Anyone seen how big the Playstation 2 is! My computer is only a bit smaller but about 20 times more powerful! Yes, I'm really looking forward to having a pink portable Gamecube swinging by my side as I walk down the street. Portability should come in really handy. I'm trying to think of the last time I moved my Dreamcast, and I can't.

Which will all cost a bit extra, pushing your overall price up a bit. X-Box comes with all of the above, or the equivalent, out of the box.

20. The GBA will be able to plug into the cube offering yet more original options for game play. Nintendo seemed to have ripped off Sega's VMU/Dreamcast funcionality quite well there. Sega VMU £19.99. Nintendo GBA £99.99. Wow, funcionality AND value.

21. Sega will be making games for the cube and GBA. They are quite good at making games and are sure to do well out of that deal. Yes, as they will also be making the same games for the X-Box and PS2, as well as producing exclusives on all 3, I can really see some benefits there.

22. What is this 3rd place add for the Playstation 2? What does it mean? I played on one and was not transported to the realm of the duck man. Instead I got sore thumbs and couldn’t find the buttons. .

23. For playstaion is crap info check out Er-No’s post on the Nintendo sucks thread. A link would be easier.

24 Has the Playstation 2 been designed for anyone? I say no. It is Big and black. The gamecube however is available in 5 colors to match your room. They are Black, gold, silver, Blue/purple and pink. Something for everyone. The pink should sell very well considering the existing Nintendo fan base.

25. Nintendo have always been tops for original console ideas. The 64DD was an inspired idea but unfortunately never got released here! We wonder why to this day.

26. You can say Pokemon is crap but try telling that to its millions of fans worldwide. Pokemon made Nintendo a huge amount of money because it appealed to younger generations. As will their next generation of games on the Gamecube, no doubt.

27. There are people who say the N64 is for little kids but there are plenty of games designed for us teenagers and adults. Like CBFD, Perfect Dark, Resident Evil, Turok series. It took Nintendo a long time to realise that there was a huge market place for games aimed at a mature audience, a case of after the horse has bolted, seeing as Sony and Sega have already pretty much cornered the market between them.

28. The n64 is probably one of the best looking consoles in the world. It looks so cool sitting under your telly. It’s also easily recognizable. The Playstation 2 looks like a cheap VCR at a glance. But then, as long as it plays games who cares if it looks like a brick or not?

29. I used to look in Nintendo mags and se rendered pics. I knew they wouldn’t look like that on the N64 but all that will change with the arrival of the Cube. Its graphics are as good as the rendered drawings you see in mags. Of course, we've all seen how Microsoft can manipulate their images quite nicely on paper, but who's actually seen the Cube at work yet? Not many people.

30. Both the N64 and GC have controllers that have been designed for comfort whereas the playstaion ones are still the same and are uncomfortable. Unless you've got hands that perfectly fit your controller, however, you are always going to get this problem.

31. With the GC Nintendo improved the controller to add an increased level of gameplay. Funny that, didn't Sony's PS2 controller get released first with analogue buttons as well as joysticks? I DO wonder where Nintendo get all their ideas sometimes, I really do.

Nice one semajal. Support Nintendo and your on my side. People are only attracted by the intriguing names that Sony give to their games. Tomb Raider sounded great, but play it and it's like listening to a lullaby.

In other words, it puts you to sleep.

Some good manufacturers backing them? Christ! Nintendo are good enough, let alone RARE!!!

The PS2's pricing was/is not a 'rip-off', simply read the post by Armitage Shanks and you'll understand.

Silly, Nintendo-biased git.
