How much do console manufacturers pay to make their console look good? Well, in Sony's position, they had the PlayStation - looked a bit dull, but it was exciting and new - something 'cool' in the eyes of the market, so aesthetically, in physical terms, it didn't matter that it looked like a big grey slab.
PS2, on the other hand, despite people saying it looks like a radiator, actually looks quite good - very well branded - everyone wants a PS2, not a Dreamcast these days.
Branding, looks, choice.
You pay your money, you get ripped off, but then we can't all be Japanese.
Many happy returns of the day.
Don't judge a console by it's clothes, judge it by what it can do - thus, GCN - looks like an oversized lego brick, quality, don't worry about it - the games will come, the machine will rock, and aesthetics will only matter when you turn the machine on.
You know what I am saying! So X Box - big, fat and ugly - bothered loads - it's what goes on inside, and if it takes a DVD player sized box to achieve the most incredible game you've never seen before then let it be so.
Thanks for reading, you know who I am.

Thats alright... you dont have to :)
Possible because no-one

Most people on here probably

Way back when ... Well... The eighties...
pretty much all computer shops, even departments stores and chain stores like Boots, Debenhams, etc..
Had 'try before you buy' as a standard expectatoin for all gamers...
You'd g onto the store... point out to the assistance which game you wanted to try, he would then stick it onto the computer, you would play the game for a bit, a buy it if you wanted to... otherwise say thanks but no thanks..
Thing is...This was a time when games took 5 minutes to load... and full price games came in between 5.99 - 7.99 ... With a 9.99 game only ever charged on 'special' titles
I know they kinda do this now, in shops with those N64, PS2 demos... but more often than not theres no controller attached to the machine... and thy only sem to play whatever title it is they are really pushing this month
It just seems odd, that at a time when games cost so much, that they should only allow people to see screen shots and rolling demos?
Well done!
> the machine will rock
I heard that's due to a slight fault in the mould for the case. Nintendo will be providing a solution to this, in the form of a detachable page which you can remove from the manual and fold, before installing it carefully under the defective corner of the machine.
Fortunatley the removable sheet has complete instructions printed on it in large, easy-to-read letters, complete with diagrams, so that even the average Nintendo owner can accomplish the task.
Nintendo will, however, be providing a helpline - charged at £2.99 per minute - for those who can't even figure out how to remove the page from the manual.
Look at all of the popluar topics, all of the debate

Thats just something ugly people say :)
