So, um, what should games be kept in, cardboard boxes, CD style cases, DVD cases? What's your preference?

I don't really care what the cases are like...as long as they aren't too bulky. I like to keep them, but the amount of wasted cardboard on a typical PC game is stupid, much prefer DVD cases there.
Where do I keep them? Liberally scattered across the floor, under the wardrobe, by the TV, on the speakers...anywhere but on the shelf I put aside for games..
