I love Blink 182, but not only Blink 182. I also like Bad Religion and the Offspring. These are all punk/rock bands and they reflect my tastes in games too. I like fast paced games that have plenty of action in them. I like games that make you want to shout “Wahoo” at the top of your voice. I like games that make you want to bounce around just getting caught up in the fun of it. I like games that you can dive straight in to, get out there and not bother about anything else, just the feel of the excitement coursing through your veins like some biological trip? Well, this might have been the concussion talking so I thought a bit harder. What other types of music do I like? Well, there’s Coldplay, especially the song “Trouble”. This is quite an emotional song with lots of feeling and that kind of reflects my penchant for RPGs. Game like Final Fantasy VII are great because they have an engaging and emotional storyline that really immerses you into it. During “Trouble” I really feel as I am that guy and it’s a great feeling. Well, who wouldn’t want to be Coldplay, eh?
So, what else do I like that could reflect my favourite types of games? Well, leaving out anything that is actually in games, let’s have a look at movies. My favourites movies are horror and action. OK, let’s take horror. Horror movies have tension and atmosphere, and sometimes fleeting moments of action. This could reflect my like horror (duh…) games. OK, horror games don’t count, but I do like a game with atmosphere, such as Silent Hill and Oddworld. Right then, that was easy, so how about action movies. Action movies are full of, well, action and, umm, not much else. This represents how I like games that you just dive right into and have lots of fast paced thrills for no apparent reason (how many films have we seen like THAT!).
All right then, films aside, what else is there? Well, not much really. At this point in the bus journey my head was really aching and my left eyelid had started flickering. Moments later, I had passed out and was dreaming of Satan the friendly prostitute.
