I want the best combination of : -
* Motherboard,
* New memory for motherboard (400fsb?),
* GFX card (must be geforce, I far prefer nVidia)
* CPU (64bit?)
That this cash will buy. I must be able to play Doom3, Halflife 2 and farcry at speed. Not bothered about dvd writer, new shell or new monitor (hmmm, lcd?). I prefer to build my own, as its cheaper than off the shelf.
Anybody a hardware wizard? Any suggestions?
Keep an eye on that Graphics card. You'll be able to get it cheaper than $400/500 with all the competition going around.
The AMD 64-bit chips are apparently good, but P4 hasn't let me down yet. Better let the techies give you more processor info.
As for a mobo, well that all depends on the chip you go for. Memory too.
Um, I see you prefer NVidia. The 6800 mentioned in the above link could be worth a look. The current crop are not all that compared to ATI's batch. If you want NVidia, wait until the above cards are launched and have been fully tested.
Oh, and go for a TFT/LCD monitor. I invested in one and it's a massive improvement over my old CRT - even on games!
