Walking around in Sheffield today, I had a look around the main gaming shops, consisting of the better known ones, to the smaller retailers, and I couldn’t believe the prices being charged.
Back when the PS2 was first released, the majority of the games were priced around £40. But even now, most of the new games are still going at these prices. The new EA Portugal 2004 game was £40 in most of the shops. Even games that came out a few months ago were these prices. I even saw one shop taking Pre-orders on the new GTA game, for prices as high as £45! Madness!
Even some of the lesser games, and all the second hand games are being sold at rather expensive prices. And it’s a pretty similar situation on all the other consoles.
Just walking around these shops made me wonder how they manage to keep in business. You can come on the net and pick up new games and save as much as £10. There are more people with access to the net than there ever has been before, so its staggering I feel that people are still paying these prices.
I haven’t bought a game from any high street shops for over a year, and with these prices, I don’t intend to spend my money there any time soon.

Ermm no actually it wasn't a dig at you it was a dig at all the spam that litters this forum. Not everything is about Arsenal you know
another dig at an arsenal fans intellect perhaps :D
topics in here that aren't hi/byes or lists are rare.

I don't blame you Clazon it's probably a shock to actually find an intelligent topic in here that it's a puzzle how to actually deal with it

sorry for being so blunt and i support your idea of actually chatting in this forum rather than making lists etc.

i'm 100% sure that amazon shade them :)

but because there's no competition, it means that people have to pay these prices if they buy games from big name stores. it works in stores' favour that prices stay high. besides, even if they did lower prices then it would take awhile for people to realise and ignore internet shopping.

cheers and sorry for being ignorant to the idea that people actually have a conversation.

Just answered your own question there mate. The shops can charge what they like as long as mugs will continue paying these high prices. I\'ve never shopped at game or Electronics boutique instead choosing to go for the little independant shops because their prices are cheaper. Of course i don\'t shop there now either now i have my contacts in Japan and America but if people are prepared to go to these stores and pay 40 quid because they\'re too lazy to pop around the corner and go somewhere like Another World or Gamestation and get it for say 35 then that\'s their problem
