With the so called next generation consoles either released or not to far from being released the future of gaming is set to go on for at least another 8 years unless something really strange happens to make us all stop playing. The graphics today have come a long long way since the likes of frogger and pac man. We are able to explore 3D worlds, play realistic driving sims, and shoot the living daylights out of bad guys on FPS's.
Graphics and gameplay are the two main ingredients to make good games and if they are at a high level ie the graphics are great and the game plays good then the game may even become better than good, it may become Great.

With the way technology advances its easy to see where things are going. Graphics will improve and so will the way they are stored, this means we should begin to see more games looking realistic. Remember Toy story 2 the film, well games may soon have graphics as good as that to blow you away with. After that we may even see extremely realistic graphics being used. But I see a little problem with this. Ok so games with violence and gore are given a certificate rating, like a 15 or 18 in some cases. But this dosn't really get taken that serious by parents. If games start to have graphics like films then they could have effects on young children.

The thing with games is that you interact with them, which dosn't happen in films. You are in control of what your vehicle/character does which could cause more harm than a movie to younger children. They may find it harder to determine its only a game.

TV and video games can effect young children, they can copy actions they have seen or played, it make them harder to tell what is right and what is wrong. They can act as kind of role models and without proper supervision could harm the child mentally.
So maybe another way of warning people about the game should be introduced. Have better warnings about the game on the box. Dont advertise it where children could see it.

This kind of thing won't happen for a long time as graphics have got quite a way to go before they start to even resemble the likes of movies. But will there come a time when graphics become too good and the fun of the games dissapear?

I don't think that graphics will ever reach the standard that make it hard to determine if its real or just a game, one thing that we can tell is that games should get better and better and so should the gameplay and graphics.
