Good news for all soccer (we call it football, but, oh, well) fans out there. Konami of Japan has announced the forthcoming World Soccer Winning Eleven 8, for release on the PlayStation 2™ this Summer.
The street date is set exactly one year and one day after World Soccer Winning Eleven 7 was released in Japan (for the curious: Winning Eleven 6 was released on 25 of April 2002, so we don't exactly have one-year intervals).
The game will feature over 130 playable teams in Master League mode, as well as a new system that helps you even out the growth and decline of your system's particular talents, so you can tweak them to become better at certain things.
We've listed known features as of today:
- 138 master league teams available
- More than 200 teams planned
- Player names should be accurate for teams from England, Germany, Spain, Italy, France and the Netherlands
- Free kicks can be played with one or two players
- New modes for through pass and centering allowing more control to the player
- Jerseys get dirty during gameplay
- Improved control of players & ball
- New Help screens & pause screen with quick control
- Referee is visible on the field during play
- JFA licenced Japan A team and Japan under 23 team
We look at a few very nice additions while the list from above is not meant to be complete yet.
Free kicks can now played with two players (free kicks were not particularly easy to play in WE7 and often resulted into just kicking the ball away), we should have new ball control techniques, we have new modes for development or retirement of master league players etc.
They said we'll be looking to incorporate new Soccer rules, while we have no clue which ones they should be (ie. which ones were missing in WE7/PES3).
World Soccer Winning Eleven 8 is available for preorder for US$59.90 only and is expected to ship on 5th of Aug 2004. Don't miss it, we wouldn't want to either.

It looks as though Konami are tweaking the game even further and I for one can't wait :)
This shall be funnu for evurest!111
With the leap from PES2 to 3 being as big as it was, this should be ultimo jizzum of the evur.
Sounds extremely good.
*ahum*
I'd laak people to check teh dates of their sources, as quite a few sites put up hoax updates thanks to the french OPSM2 releasing an aprils fool.
Bastardos.
> Winning Eleven 8, for release on the PlayStation 2™ this Summer.
1. Its comming out on the Xbox too.
2. Its gonna be on Live too!!!
3. Will it be called Pro Evo 4 or Winning Eleven 8?
4. Is that the UK release or the American release?
5. Im gonna try to preorder it!!!
I'll just compare the new features to FIFA.
> - 138 master league teams available
> - More than 200 teams planned
FIFA 2004 has 465 teams.
> - Player names should be accurate for teams from England, Germany,
> Spain, Italy, France and the Netherlands
All 465 teams on FIFA 2004 are fully licensed and all player names and kits are accurate.
> - Free kicks can be played with one or two players
FIFA 2004 features a new free kick module, including the opportunity to run players into space when taking a free kick.
> - New modes for through pass and centering allowing more control to
> the player
FIFA 2004 includes through passing amongst many other skill moves.
> - Jerseys get dirty during gameplay
FIFA 2004 implemented a system where players shirts get dirty through the match.
> - Improved control of players & ball
FIFA 2004 reworked the player control system.
> - New Help screens & pause screen with quick control
FIFA 2004 includes more help screens than ever before, as well as a clearer options screen.
> - Referee is visible on the field during play
FIFA 2004, like previous editions, has the referee as fully visible throughout matches.

If Pro Evo is only just catching up with FIFA, what will FIFA 2005 be like? :)
O. M. G.
Where as with Pro Evo, every new game seems to make a whole rounded improvement on the last, and always seems to get better, especially gameplay wise.

Yeah, and how many of those teams are you going to play as? Exactly. PES doesn't even need 138 club teams (although it's a nice addition). FIFA's number is completely needless.

Heh. So you like the fact that some team from the Russian 3rd division has the correct sponsor on his shirt? This doesn't make a football game, you mong.

Wow. Now look at PES. The players are already in intelligent positions because Konami aren't a bunch of chimps.

This has just made you sound even more retarded. PES has used the through ball ever since the series started about 6 years ago. It's talking about imporvement, not introduction. While FIFA is still working on its through ball, PES is moving towards being able to centre it, something you won't see in FIFA for many years yet. And what skills actually work in FIFA? None. Exactly.

If this is true, then why was it never witnessed? Possibly because you're talking from your ass.

Oh dear. You really don't have a clue what you're drivelling on about, do you?

A clearer options screen? What are you? 3-years-old? Unless you have problems reading basic English, a clearer option screen really isn't all that necessary.

The thing is, though, it isn't just catching up with FIFA. PES has been miles ahead of FIFA EVER SINCE THEY STARTED MAKING THE GAMES. You fool.
Face it, Forest Fan. PES4 will be better than FIFA 2005, simply because EA are doing naff all to try and improve their series. "Off The Ball" last year - yeah, that was good, wasn't it? Let's introduce something PES has automatically had for about 3 years. Now this year, "A clearer options screen" - ahahahaha.
