What was the peripheral that was supposed to do for the Gamecube what the eyetoy did for the PS2?

I missed that bit of news :(

According to a Nintendo spokesman they didn't announce the prephiral at E3 so not to overshadow Zelda or the DS announcements.

"I told you a long time ago..." whosoever names where this quote is from wins £100 sterling

The original rukour about the peripheral came from Nintendo's patent for the DS, and when asked about a new peripheral Nintendo talked about the Bongo Drums, although they may have an unannounced gamecube Hard-Drive or something.

The Mario plunger?

You just know I'd buy that.

Maybe it's a plunger, for use with the next Mario game, perhaps.

I think I heard somewhere, from some Japanese magazine or something, that it was a fully fledged GameCube online service.

Probably the free Memory Card 59 us Europeans will FINALLY be able to get (with importing!) when Animal Crossing gets released over here, some years later...

It's the n-skipping rope. Like a dance mat for simpletons.
Except it doesn't require game disks.

Pre-emptive 3rd party versions are already available.

Actually after reading an interview with Nintendo they stated:

"We'll unveil that soon and you'll hear more about it before the end of the year".
