It was an odd E3 to see Nintendo more on-the-ball than they have ever been in such a long time. Reading an article at Computerandvideogames.com about the Nintendo conference made me proud to be a Nintendo fan. And even more perculiar was Nintendo's attitude to the European market at E3. In a brief talk with that ol' dog Satoru Iwata (head of Nintendo you know) he revealed that Metroid Prime: Echoes would not see a worldwide release this year. You can guess what that means, but wait, the area that won't be recieving the game is in fact the Japanese market.

"I feel we (Nintendo) have been a bit cruel to the European market, we tried negotiating a Christmas release of Resident Evil 4 but Capcom were adament it was not possible. So we're going to make sure Metroid Prime 2 will reach European shores, even if it means delaying the Japanese release. We also feel that Animal Crossing is now worthwhile to release in the vacinity and is set for a September release."

Nice one guys.

I bet you that BG&E and XIII were released in Europe first.

The main reason that games are released in America and Japan first is because language support is only needed for the English or the Japanese, rather than for 5 different European coutries.

Oh yeah I forgot about Perfect Dark.

The idea is simple if you are a European company (Ubi-soft, Infogrammes, Team 17, RARE, Free Radical Design, Eidios) then they are released in Europe first.

Japanese companies (Square, SEGA, Capcom, Konami, Namco, Nintendo) have games released in Japan first.

and American companies (Retro Studios, EA, Silicon Knights, Activision, THQ) have games released in America first.

The Japanese wait years for Free Radical and Ubi-soft titles...

Whilst we wait ages for titles from Square and Konami.

Doshin the giant is out in america. When i went to florida last year I went to a Eb megastore and they deffiinately had unimported copies of it there.

Im not sure goldeneye came out first here as i remember an artical in NOM by which they reviewed an american import.

I was refering to nintendo games so tombraider and hitman dont count.

Worms 3D and blast corps were pretty lame anyway so theres no jump for joy there.

i wonder why banjo kazooie was released here first then. Its not as if it wouldnt appeal to american and japanese gamers...

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
