I didn't go to art school or even take art class so I still have a lot to learn and only by practising can I improve. So what I would like you to do is suggest random things for me to draw. This will be great practise for me and hopefully I'll get better at sketching digitally with my new wacom tablet.
It can be an object, piece of furniture, a comic character, a cartoon character, a celebrity, an anime character, a video game character, a mobile phone, a vehicle, a building, literally anything at all. And if someone has already suggested a video game character, then don't be put off suggesting another.
I'll keep track of all the suggestions and hopefully (if it's good) I'll post the sketches. So don't be shy, I'll happily draw anything/anyone and if you have an image for reference, even better, but not a requirement.
Note: Oh and it's much more fun and motivational if I ask you guys to give me ideas rather than sit here and try and come up with them myself.
Disclaimer : Although I'm happy to draw anything, I'll probably pass on suggestions like drawing naked Disney characters. Sorry Alfonse

But I can agree with your comment regarding 'shading' techniques and use.
Assuming that you're a complete beginner, i would recommend that you learn to study proportion and anatomy of the human body. Study the human muscles and surface details.
Oh incidently, bare in mind that most of the techniques of digital art is actually traditional forms.
Theres plenty of ref pics you could try drawing online. Posemaniacs is an excellent one.
Although i too never took art at school or as an optional subject, i started drawing since i was 4. I didn't take it seriously until when i went to uni and actively sought info on drawing.
Here is a link to some if my older work and here is more recent work. There area few other things on there, like the haruhi wallpaper, but there area few digital art pics that i tried pracitciing with.
I've still a lot to learn. Currently i'm converting myself into a human photocopier and practice drawing from photos and learning to shade. A vital area in drawing.
Part of the course was a life class - one day a week for a year, above a night club in Leeds called Cinderalla Rockerfella!
We hated the Life Class - we used to refer to it as the 'Creeping Death'. When you've seen one nude drape herself across the white wall during the day, you've seen them all. Believe me we had loads, but a strange thing - we all agreed the 'larger lady' was easier to depict than the 'thinner lady', if you see what I mean.
So a topic - I'm cooking tea at the moment so draw me cooking tea - use your imagination, kitchen, pans, chaos etc etc :-)
Go for it :-)
