Both are action movies with plots that borrow heavily from other movies in the genre.
Both are very special effect oriented.
Both feature actors that are generally not known for their great acting. (Except maybe Laurence Fishbourne).
So, what's the difference?
I bought Akira and enjoyed it, but not really a fan of Manga too much.
Damn, I havent listened to that album in a long time.

before i went to see the film
I didnt do this with MiB and was disapointed when watching the film
I enjoyed matrix from start to finish
After teh first action seen there is a lot of plot it could have been down with spreading out a bit more
I thought the actors
(carri and lawrence fishbourne (i think thats it goatboy))played there parts very seriously (keanu cant act) which i thought helped the film immensly.
I agree that trinity im the one for you etc speach at the end stunk but hey...
The agents Human beings are a disease speech was great.
Remind you of a certain arnie film where machines have taken over and exterminating us for the same sought of reason.
13th floor i thought played a very interesting spin on the
> idea.
Aboslutely.
Usually I'm "Mr Cinema" sitting there trying to be all poncy and art critic about movies, looking for subtexts and all manner of pretentious twaddle.
However, with The Matrix, I just sat there and thought "This rocks!" and came out wanting a leather jacket and Carrie Ann Moss in PVC.
A big, loud, fun and stylish film that does nothing more than entertain for 2hrs solid.
Holes in the plot, no logic to it, Neo flying at the end looked stupid..but goddamn it did the job.
ANY film that can end with someone putting on sunglasses as Rage Against The Machine builds into "Know your Enemy" is approaching cinema genius.
I want one of those!!
