Well I like to have a drink near to hand when I am playing games. And in Goldeneye in single player that is difficult. The pause menu takes a long time to come up with the wee watch animation. And during all that time there can be enemies shooting you.
Things like this might not really bother you but they bother and annoy me. If I am paying £40 or even £50 for a game I want it to be perfect. I will not be but some games are better than others because certain features have been implemented better.
How we play games does have an impact on how much we enjoy them. If I do not have a drink or do not have my red N64 controller when I am playing my (or someone elses) N64, then I am not fully comfortable and do not enjoy the game playing as much then as when I so have my controller and drink etc.
I just wondered what you lot thought and if I was just an overly demanding games player.
Thanks for reading
Biggles
My living room with a wide screen TV. All my consoles connected up to one amp with a switch that changes from one console to the other.
All the games I own in my reach.
Normally, I don't eat when I play game because my parents don't like me getting food over the controllers but if they were out, I would get out some sweets or a Ham, Sausage and Pepperoni pizza and a very large coke.
I would have the lights down for games like Resident Evil but for more subtle escapades, I would have the lights up. I would have the volume at a normal level as I don't like it too loud.
I would have a reclinable chair with drink holders for my extra large coke.
---or---
The lights are off in my playroom and I'm sitting at my computer with a large coke and a pizza on my lap. My parents make me wear headphones because they don't like the music I play from my MP3's and I have a younger sister and if she heard someone's arm being ripped off, she would probably get scared. Anyway, the sound is more concentrated with headphones. Plus, I don't know how to turn on my sub woofer and 2 speakers. I would have a very large monitor aswell. All my games would be within reach and I would have an ADSL line for internet play.
That is the ultimate gaming experience!
The longest I've ever played a game solidly is Final Fantasy 8. I think I played that for about 10 hours one day ( including toilet breaks, lunch etc. ).
while in bed with the TV about 1m away with a LARGE glass of cold coke next to the bed,
-OR-
sat, in the dark, at my PC, volume turned up, VERY LARGE glass of coke, three or four biscuits
-BUT the best enviroment for me would be:
sat on very large, soft bean bag in total darkness, with PC and PS2 within reach, large pizza, probably chicken and sweetcorn, 2x 2 litre bottle of coke, empty house, 32" TV, Sound VERY loud, wrapped in my quilt if its cold.
And I need a Bon Jovi CD when the sound
> starts to annoy me.
"Crossroads" to be precise it has the best sonds and ones to suit most games. The only one it doesn't have is "Its my life" from "Crush" which is great for aggressive games. Say it isn't so is another good one from that album but isn't really suited to games, Apart from something like champo which is slow moving.
Resident Evil,MGS,hogs of war mainly in my room with the big subwoofer and speakers in bed at night.
Tekken, crash team racing and some others at my mates with a cigs and a BUD, kinda get distracted if it's a thong party night though
D'oh.
