Most people also have a favourite console maker, Nintendo, Sony, Sega and believe it or not some people will like Microsoft. This is a common fact, highlighted by all the "Sony Rules-Nintendo is for kids" and "Greystation sucks-Sony don't even make games" posts that pop up from time to time. Personally I stand with Sony but it is quite hard to actually try and work out why we all have these silly prejudices about other console manufacturers.
We don't actually believe most of the things we say about the other consoles when involved in a slagging match, it is simply 'Right you are not going to win this argument Nintendo boy!'. So where do our favourites come from and why do they make us so unreasonable when somebody disagrees with us.
One theory might be that we buy our console and stubbornly argue that 'It Rules!' so that we don't have to admit that we had been such a chimp to spend our hard-earned cash on this plastic pile of trash, no names mentioned...sega saturn. :D
Another thing might be the first impressions that you get of a console. The other night I was round a mate’s house and we decided to dust off his old N64 and give it a go. I hated every minute of it. The games were totally different to the ones I usually play, the controller was awkward and the views on Smash Bros were very infuriating. I kept getting my ass kicked on Goldeneye and Perfect Dark despite being a master of similar style games on the Playstation. I came away thinking that console should be burned on the stake as it was so rubbish.
Obviously this was just spur of the moment but it was the same thing when I was attracted to the Playstation. I went to a different friends house, played on his nice new Playstation and thought wow, this looks class, FF7 looks amazing and GT is wicked, I know lets go out and buy one of these. And I did, the next day. So maybe it is these first impressions that get us to stand by a console name at all costs and shield it from the insults of the enemy.
You could be totally impartial and have every single console under the sun and not have a favourite in the least. If so I am going to ignore you ;-). People have very strong opinions on their console of choice and consequently these feelings turn to anger when abuse is thrown at our consoles. Could this mean that we are so addicted that we treat them like our children, in a primal way protecting our consoles from attacks.
So does anyone know why they like the consoles that they do and why such strong feelings are attached to them. Please none of the posts mentioned earlier like "Its because Sony suck, you biased fool!"
Laugh if you want but i bought a bugs life for PS1 for a change of the adventure games i tend to play, I got it for £5 brand new at blockbuster.
This game was pretty bad i mean it's meant for kids and i took me a while to figure out just what the heck i'm supposed to do in most of the levels. It's just that it had that horrible pop up effect and slow controls not to mention tomb raider 1 type graphics.
Once you know what to do and go over it again it's not to bad, the PSone isnt as good as the N64 for making a 3D enviroment, spyro's not bad though.the first level is pretty easy and my sister loves games like spyro and crash bandicoot which is why i always say she propably likes the 64 better.
I on the other hand prefer finger numing Tekken, adult adventure games, gran turismo and I'm sure you know the rest of the PS's good games.
my point being the 64 has it's own style of games and is really good at 3D enviroments like mario and Zelda but all the other types it seems to really lack on.
The PS2 is OUTSTANDING at creating life like enviroments, those who have seen the devil may cry demo will know exactly what i mean so I'm pretty sure we're gona see some awsome games for it.
Tip- stay away from the disney games cus nearly all of em suck. I've stil got the hercules demo which aint bad but i wouldn't recommend them!!!!
Please none

The only problem is, they DO!
Which game was my first? It was the launch game Super Mario World. What a great game that was. I mean you go to ride a dinosuar for gods sake. How could it fail. Anyways I was totally gobsmacked by it gradually honing my skills up to the high level they are today.
Even I, ShortyBlitz, well known for my hard man image :) actually pathetically got very annoyed when my next door neighbour erased my save on the game. I couldn't contain my rage as I had played hard to reach where I was. Although now it seems sad as I was in fact not particularily far, to me then it seemed very, very important.
I grew up with that console playing some brilliant games along the way. Donkey Kong country, 1, 2, 3, Zelda:ALTTP, F-zero, Mario Kart, Super Metroid and Pilotwings to name, but a few. They were instant classics and solidified my loyalty to Nintendo and Shigeru Miyamato.
Eventually all of my friends got one. Not all of them but a few did. They thought that it blew all of their old consoles out of the water too. They all used to own such consoles as the Master System (sega) and the good old Nintendo Entertainment System. Now they were introduced to 16bit power and they too found the games irresistable.
One of my friends however had a Mega Drive. I played on it whenever I went around and had some good games with him. One of our favourites was Mickey and Donald. Although truthfully I could not wait to get back home and switch oin the Snes.
The Snes lived on for many, many years for me not ever boring me until the dreaded day that the Playstation was unveiled. In was blown away by the difference in the graphics, although I still loved my Snes, that was until I saw what was to come. A little something called Project Reality was in production. Later to be released as the N64.
The second I saw the N64 I just knew that I had to have one. The Snes now was looking strangely boring. I yearned for a new console, something that I had never really felt until then. Verything about it was looking boring now. The pads, boring, the games, been done before. It was terrible. I wanted another console and realised that my Snes was soon to be replaced by a new and better improved console.
During the time of me seeing the N64 and getting one, I had managed to get a few goes on the new Sony Playstation. I was very impressed, but not to the extent that I wanted one. Probably because I wanted a N64 but this was just me I guess. I found it pretty good, but I knew that something better was approaching and approaching fast.
When the N64 finally arrived on the Uks shore I was certain that it was the console for me. Although the £250 price tag didn't look particularily friendly to me. I felt very annoyed as I realised that I was going to have to wait until my birthday.....but wait. The price tag was suddenly drastically slashed to £150. Hmmm this is looking increasingly good I thought to myself. What with my brother now talking about paying half of the price.
Suddenly my next door neighbour knocked on the door. "Guess what I've got" she said to me, "you haven't" I replied, "I have!". Suddenly all I could think about was getting the few meters from my house to hers. I NEEDED to play this console. I knew that I wouldn't be dissapointed. Boy was I wrong.
Just my luck wasn't it. She had gone and bought a copy of MArio Kart 64. I knew that instance that I would infact be annoyed by the game. Mario Kart on the Snes was a classic, anything trying to improve on it would be seen by me as "inferior". I mean the game was good, but it wasn't the revolutionary game I was expecting.
"This just in. N64s dropped to £100". This was my chance. Me and my brother rushed down to Sutton High Street and bought an N64 with Mario 64 for £160, without looking back. We knew we had made the right choice.
Were we right? Oh yes we were! It was everything I had hoped for, and more. Great graphics, great gameplay, great music. The perfect videogame? I knew now at that very moment of switching the game on, that Nintendo was the company for me and there was no looking back.

I really enjoyed the games on my SNES, multiplayer MaioKart and Bomberman were all a really good laugh. It seemed a good move to then buy an N64. I liked SNES games so it seemed reasonable to assume i would like N64 games.
I had that for a little while, played great games, but then the games started drying up. For some reason, which i'm still not sure about to this day, i blamed this on Sony and their PSX.
I vowed never to buy a Sony console. Ever.
I got bored and fed up with having to wait for new N64 games, i wanted a new console. The DC had been out a couple of months and the games looked good so i got one. I didn't buy it for the 'net side of things as i have my PC for that.
Different games, styles of games, appeal to different people and so this should be the deciding factor when we choose our console. I must be one of the only people I know that hasn't complained about Microsoft, because they are a superb company - the only reason everyone puts them down, especially in this country, is because they are such a successful company - I don't know why, but many people are jealous. Naturally, the bugs and viruses and fact that the XBox is going to weigh more than 3 bricks, could have something to do with our unparralled hatred towards them, but nah!
Anyway, memories give us the strength we need to believe, strength we need to proceed.
Obviously I hate when people say immature comments and silly pathetic arguments but when people have good discussions have consoles and have really good debates they can be very interesting.
