If there was ever a reason to prefer Region 2 to Region 1 then it is coming in the form of the DVD release of Transformers: The Movie.
The R1 release (admittedly out ages ago) was pants. The extras list was non-existent. I mean it, there is nothing there. Fans were rightly very disappointed with it. Now they are being given what they wanted (and then some!).
The features list apparently goes as follows:
A Japanese "Headmasters" episode.
Commentary (don't know who by)
Original trailer
"The Touch" music video featuring Stan Bush
Isolated music soundtrack
Character profiles
Concept art
Toy commercials
Story boards & Interviews
And there's also one tiny little advantage over the R1 version - the R2 disc is in WIDESCREEN!

This looks cool, I have the video, but transformers on DVD?? Yes please. Apparently the R1 disc was in 4:3 because they couldn't find the 16:9 film before they made the DVD, but they found it in time for the R2 disc.

I think I've got Transformers: The Movie on video years ago but having lost the label on the video I'm not sure if it is or not.
